I'm glad he's getting his due. I knew three different people (family and friends) that took the same exact path he did through the navy, complete with all the fumbles and struggles, and none of them came out this well. I'm very happy Sturgill has come out of this so centered and shares the experience with people so they can realize this is not an uncommon story and you can come back from that dark place. So thank you to Sturgill, I believe this record could change lives.

This evening, for the first time during this year's Blues fest in Ottawa (Canada) i heard a tune and a voice that stirred my soul the way that Muddy Waters singing did. I stopped everything -- I could hear from my balcony - and i listened . When it was over I wanted more. I went online to find out from the schedule who that artist was. I am delighted to have discovered this amazing musician and singer. Thank you Sturgill for coming to Ottawa. God bless.

I know how you feel - it was just like Christmas for me when I discovered his music. Enjoy getting to hear all that you can!

It's interesting how he seems to gather his thoughts before he opens his mouth. On old soul, perhaps. Or at least very thoughtful. I wish the interviewer hadn't used so many clichéd questions and comments. "It's been a great ride and a long ride ahead of you." "Make the most of it and take one day at a time." But Sturgill is gracious and takes it all in stride. And his music is so damn good.

Rodinmod I saw an MF DOOM interview and he did the same thing with waiting to answer the question until he's gathered his thoughts. For sure a sign of an intellectual kinda guy.

I love him. I am glad to be alive to witness this man's music. There aren't many artists that can move my soul nowadays.

He is super low key because he is real and probably sleep deprived and even depressed like the rest of us. He isn’t fake and that is what makes him super good

I like how you can tell that he has no idea how friggin good he is, like it’s still just a hobby for him. I’m like his mom, “I don’t care if you hit it big, cause your already #1”.

Everyone says he sounds like Waylon. He definitely picks like old hoss, but his voice sounds a lot like Keith Whitley, and Vern Gosdon

I can listen to quite a few sturgill songs and automatically hear Waylon in his voice.
