When I was 13 years old, my father gave me permission to purchase my first car. A rust-free 1962 Austin Healey Sprite MK II with 42K original miles and a newly rebuilt 998cc engine. The price: $150. My father helped me repaint the car and repair a few odds and ends and I proudly drove the car to my high school graduation in 1974. I eventually sold it for $600 to a professor that worked at Wells College. His intent was to race it at Watkins Glen. I hope it still exists.

Nice Sprite! I have a 62 with the 1098 cc engine painted British racing green. They really exactly as you described, simple, everyday usable cars. I drive mine about 2000 miles every summer commuting around town.

Great drive ! Thats a beautiful place . I felt like I was driving it . I owned a 67 , 1275 cc back in 73 . I couldnt stop driving it . That was back in NY City . Amazing fun . I couldnt believe you were doing around 30 mph . It felt like 50 ! Thats the great thing about these cars : you dont have to go speeding to have a hell of a fun time .

Thanks! I seem to always come back to Spridgets for that very reason.

Looks and sounds great. I have a 58 and a 59 that are starting restoration, if they look and sound like that, I'll certainly consider it a success.
