Restoration of a Corgi Toys Austin Seven Mini showing strip down, paint and re-assembly.
I have now noticed after watching the before shots that the crack in the screen wasn't present. I think the crack was generated when it tipped forward and made contact inside the machine vice? I normally sit the roof of my castings on a parallel (machined support), I didn't this time. My fault!
The Mini was marketed under BMC's two main brand names, Austin and Morris until 1969, when it became a marque in its own right. The Morris version was known to all as the "Morris Mini-Minor". One name proposed for the almost identical Austin version was Austin "Newmarket" but it was sold as the "Austin Seven" which recalled the popular small Austin 7 of the 1920's and 1930's.

I love this Corgi model, both the Morris and Austin. I got 42 of them. Lovely restored model.

Nicely done 👏🏻👌🏻👍🏻 Crackin' little Mini! I too try not to spend too much on parts; theyre so expensive and it's not as though youre adding to the value of the toy (except possibly in the very long run) and, bottom line, what you get is a costly dust gatherer..... unless youre going to play with them, of course. I have seen an ad on the 'Tube for some jollop that seals and makes glass cracks invisible. I might get some of that and see if it's any good for this sort of scenario. That could be a winner..... if it works!

You can use the water with caustic soda when it is cold for removing paint from plastic models.

Nicely done Kevin, those tax discs and GB stickers you could buy as an accessory sheet . One thing I would mention using the blue tissue will give you scratches on the polish try a peice of cotton cloth. All the best Martin

"I don't like spending money on these things..." And I am supposed to be the Scottish one! I did not notice if both ends of the springs were in crimped housings, but I usually nip the springs along a bit, with pliers, and pop the axles out whole. The puller only works on wheels that are not knackered (as my FC150 Jeep's were!), but I am reminded that I really need to break out the airbrush again - what a tremendous finish you are getting there! Really nice casting, that Mini, but I always think the track is too narrow on them: I'm sure they'd take a wider axle. Hey ho.
