We can't speak for other doctors of course, but Austin-Weston is unique in that we have four board-certified surgeons operating in the same facility every day. Whenever any one of the doctors implements a new technique, it is shared among everyone, so all the doctors here are working with the same tools and information. If there's ever a particularly challenging case, we lean on each other's knowledge and skills to get the patient the best possible result. I hope that answers your question!

You have some very good insight! There very well may end up being some differences between physicians based upon their “aesthetic eye,” but we can take it even a step further. There may be differences in outcome from the same physician case to case based on recent experience or what is encountered intra-operatively. Let’s address the aesthetic eye first. This is like the dentist who likes the square tooth, white. What is really important is, “what does the patient like?” We strive not to fulfill our own eye, but the patients. If patient likes arch and shades up, then we work with that in mind being aware of our own bias and working within it. There definitely was a time when you could tell which NY plastic surgeon a patient went to based upon what nose they got, but it’s not as much like that now. At least not here. Utilizing imaging on the computer or looking at photos of what the patient likes/doesn’t is useful for this. Now the patient to patient variance by same surgeon. There are factors that we encounter during the operation which might prevent or allow us to be less or more aggressive; Bleeding, blood pressure, tension of tissues…. Add these to the information we got from how the patients we just saw who are one day, one month, one year out from the same operation and we are constantly tweaking to be the best and the safest.
