Elvis quoted you very high end living expenses in Tanzania; WAY too high. They take you to tourists spots that are overpriced. Go where the locals hang out. Link up with Mark again, so that he can show you how to live comfortably, yet in a more reasonable budget. Source: I'm a Tanzanian

Some of my best experience in life came from pushing a little outside my comfort zone. Never be afraid to walk the less traveled path at your own pace. Some good people in the world to encourage you to try new things in life. Invest in a good cigar cutter and only use wooden matches which preserves the flavor removing the chance of a gas after taste.

I am an African from South Africa, I see people using their hands when eating. In the Eastern Cape or State in other countries we use spoons all the way. Yes I know how to use hands when eating pap and braai like in Gauteng province or state. But I have never eaten rice with my hands my entire life, let alone eating with others in one plate. I think this is testimony to the fact that Africa is 54 different countries with different cultures very much interesting🙂.

That's somali food. They don't eat pap. Somalis just like North Africans, west Africans and Arabs eat rice with their hands. I am Congolese Tanzanian and only eat our fufu with hands. But I grew up in west africa. When I see rice and Liberian sweet potato greens the only way I can taste that food good is with my hands.

I am Zimbabwean and grew up eating sadza or pap with my hands. The first time i went to Tanzania is when i saw a group of Indians or Arabs sitting on the floor in a restaurant and eating rice with their hands which we never did. Travelling opens your mind to a lot. When me any my friends have had get togethers and had some Iraqi friends over they also bring their own food and everyone sits on the floor and use hands. Same deal with my Ethiopian friends. Also have Pakistani friends , same deal especially in home settings and depending on what food is being eaten. People are not any more sicker in these countries because they eat with their hands. As long as hands are clean i actually think it is a way more intimate and communal way of sharing and enjoying food

Yeah the question is why. I am a Zimbabwean living in the US who has been to Dar and Znzibar multiple times and found the prices ridiculous. But you know us black people we always want to show out, make it look like we are ballers. In Colombia i can have lunch of the day for 10 mil pesos or USD $2 and that includes a protein whether beef or chicken, a salad, rice or patacones or some version of starch and a soup. Travel should be for everyone and giving out these baller prices may discourage people of less means but who would also love to travel like the rest of us who do.

I'm sorry, but I can't have that. I will not let people put their hands in my food. I don't mind sharing, but not eating from the same plate.

Elvis calculation is off. I was born in Tanzania but my mom is American for context. For groceries it’s less than $100 a week, I would say about $25-30 a week
