KNIPEX 13728 wire strippers. This is my look and review of the pliers coming from an Australian commercial electrical background. It maybe different from how some use pliers.
Find the strippers here on amazon:

These are my absolute favorite strippers. As an electrician in sign/lighting, I mainly work with 12-10g wire, so these get me by. Love using them when servicing neon transformers or on pole lights, as they are mostly dealt with live. That insulation is just superior.

I'm in industrial maintenance and I absolutely love these I have the slim grip and they just work great now I completely agree with the fact it kinda sucks with bigger cables because you have to slightly open them up more to fit but they still cut great so that's just being picky haha

You can take the spring out. I took the spring out of mine and they act more like linesmans now. Love my forge wire strippers, Just wish they made a VDE handled version for the AWG model.

I use the 13 86 200 pliers instead. They only come with 1.5 and 2.5 stripping holes are are 1000v rated. They're basically useless if you need to twist anything but are great for most industrial applications

As an hvac tech in the USA, I love these. They eliminated 3 pliers from my bag.

A tradie I used to work with used these, I had a bit of a go - loved how nicely they stripped 2.5mm & 1.5mm, felt so nice and smooth! But she had previously worked in industrial/instrumentation. I was the same, didn't like the width of the end, a couple of mm makes a big difference when trying to grab the cable to twist. Some good features but dunno whether it's worth having an additional set of pliers. Love the addition of the screw cutter though! more pliers should have them!

You’re exactly right. Those few mm make that difference. I believe more countries using these more often don’t do too much twisting which makes sense. Screw cutter is definitely fantastic. I use my pinch cuts to do it, but it’s not always as clean. Thanks for the input kelsie👍

I use these strippers in the uk, I find that I got used to them after a week or so and those along with the standard Comfort grip 200mm pliers is all I have in my belt pliers wise. The only reason I carry the standard pliers is because of the step on the cutters and when I’m cutting T&E it just nicks the internal wire which is a shame but the other features make up for it!

Since your review of the Sydney tools Xtorque cross cuts, I’ve been using them religiously. I work in sportsfield lighting and orange circ is the norm, absolute beasts for stripping and cutting 16mm 3ce, 1.5mm 8ce, 2.5mm 2ce - can’t struggle with them what so ever. The crimpers are a bit dog arse but I’ve only tried on 6mm lugs. Anyway, onya mate, saved me lots of time!

Thanks for the feedback mate. Those xtorque pliers were great. Can’t go past a good set of cross cuts!

These are my daily use, go to, ‘will only use’ these strippers - the screw cutting, the narrow head works for small Spaces like needle nose - you can’t twist more than 2 #12awg wires (great for twisting smaller wires like fire alarm and low voltage wires) - these open SUPER wide! And the internal spring is awesome, ONLY issue is the spring can get squeaky over time (as you hear here lol) but literally the best strippers I have used and own! I have them in regular dipped handle and my preferred comfort grip (seen here). Surprised you haven’t been rocking these are a while now? lol. - NEED more of these tool review vids please!!!

Hey mate. Thanks heaps for the input and experience. Are you in the USA, and do many others use them where you are? I’ll definitely try to keep up with the reviews. Thanks for the support

Do you think it’d be possible to remove the spring from inside. They seem like an awesome pair of strippers but I had having my pliers spring loaded

Bear in mind that they don't have the screw cutting feature in the metric version for some reason.

There's a metric version Knipex 13 72 200 ME And Knipex 13 71 200 ME plastic dip handles It's missing metric bolt trimmers but otherwise the same cutting wise. I think.iy might jot be sprung, as there's no lock either. I'd love to see you do an updated comparison between the Metric and SAE "American Style" versions

They look like a decently thought out combo tool. Not sure how much I'd use them (industrial sparky), as most smaller cabling I use is either fine strand or flex. For a couple of terminations of that stuff, I just just ye olde faithful Marvels and a bootlace crimper. For bigger multicore cables I use a Weidmuller Stripax 2.5. As with everything, there is personal preference involved though. P.S. WD40 on electrical tools?! Shouldn't you be using CRC 2.26/ 5.56 Electrical? :-😜

You might be interested in shooting a comparison of 13728 with European analoque Knipex 13 96 200 (13 92 200). If you have one of them, there would be lot of interesting details to compare!

They're different. There's a 13 71 200 ME plastic coated, and 13 72 200 ME comfort grip version that's the metric equivalent to the pliers in the video. Only difference is that the metric ones don't have a lock or bolt cutter
@3bepp

@@KamalTailor nope, metric also has thin endings, that (in my opinion) is not as useful as lineman's type of pliers. And yes, bolt cutter was principal faeture to chose american one here, in Europe

I found that after a few weeks of daily use, they started to squeak everytime you open them. Rp7 or wd40 fixed it for a few days then they just start squeaking again. Apart from that, they are great but the squeaking makes them unusable
