I just came back from a medieval festival in Meersburg at Lake Constance / Bodensee, and I am surprised by the enthusiasm so many people put into medieval costume, with huge axes and swords and Gandalf-style giant wooden wand ---- not just by young people, but also elderly and entire family with kids dressing up for the event.

I know right! They seem to really try to make them historical.

0:27 St. Martin's Church bell tower has a height of 130.6 m (428 ft). Since 1500 the highest brick building on this planet. Not counting a few chimneys, which have however normally also steel supports. Just an indication that Landshut was in medieval times an important city.

The Landshuter Hochzeit - been there 12 years ago and still remember it, as it were yesterday, as it was so amazing. Since then I've been back to Landshut many a times, as I think it is the most impressive Late Medieval town we have got in Bavaria with its lovely gabled, colourful houses, the brick gothic church with the world's largest brick tower and its wonderful castle.... what more could you ask for? Oh yeah, a local beer, a second hand book shop and a Shop for hand crafted chocolate of course. But don't despair. Landshut has all of that as well. And then, close to Landau, in a small little village, there is the "growing rock", a truely hidden gem that makes any lover of stones' heart skip a beat. .... reading through these lines again, I think I should quitt my Job and start working for the tourist board. 😂 Thanks for a wonderful Video again.

This is really a very nice video, it's very good to see that you Americans really like it here in Germany, especially in Bavaria and also in Landshut, because it's always said that we Germans aren't that popular in the world. It's just a video like this really nice to look at. Thank you for this nice clip. Greetings from Landshut

I used to live in the Uk (for 8 years until Brexit) and I'm sure there must have been medieval festivals there too but I can't remember any...The ones in Germany are brilliant though, especially the medieval Christmas markets!

We actually talk about this all the time! There are so many remnants of medieval history all over Britain, but not a lot of these festivals. Surely there must be some. I haven't seen the same enthusiasm for big community oriented cultural festivals in the UK in general though... :,)

The horror of walking for 20 minutes… It sure is an American perspective.

I was pretty clear that we did not enjoy the 20 minute walk because it is on a main road....not because it was 20 minutes...
