In our household, it has been traditionally served on Christmas Eve with Frankfurters and meatballs. We also enjoy it as a vegetarian dish with plant-based burgers etc.
It is also fantastic as a side dish at a barbecue or for dinner served with bratwurst, fried chicken, or fried egg (Spiegelei). Perfect for a picnic or to take to a tailgate party.
It is so easy to make with only four simple ingredients but so flavorsome.
