Molcajete is been used to grind spices and make sauces in every mexican kitchen. They are made by artesans with a volcanic stone.

Amazing, now I really will cherish my molcajete. So much hard work was put into making it. Had mine for about 20 years. Will pass it on to my daughter or son, which ever one decides they like to cook. My hubby is Mexican, and will show him this video. I'm sure he never thought this much work went into these.

Very nice vid! I was muching on chips and was diping into my salsita made from my molcajete. Ive had it for 20 years and I think I paid like $7 US dollars in Tlaquepaque.

Thanks for the video, we where not to sure how the molcajete was made, it is a real work of art, and knowing that my molcajete comes from a small town in Zacatecas sold to me by huicholes makes me really appreciate it knowing all the work that was put in to it. Thanks once again.

Good info, it is rapidly becoming a lost art and mostly in the kitchen; people go for food processors instead of the goodness of the taste of anything made on a molcajete.

my mom always had a small one for the salsa for 50 years but i recently went to a Mexican restaurant and had a dish with a molcajete and it was delicious and now i want one but i found out that the molcajetes big ones cost 250-300 us dollars yes i was very surprised by the cost of one so i went on a cruise to Cozumel Mexico and i went to old village where they make them along with my tour guide and i bought 2 of them 10 inches wide each for 30 dollars each i will now cherish them for as long as i live they look awesome.
