ALOHA🌺 We took you along with us on a very unique food adventure, we had a custom and authentic Thai dinner prepared by the famous Chef Opal! His restaurant is unique because every dish is customized to the patron, you might say it's Thai style Omakase or hand selected by the Chef!
Opal Thai is located in the Downtown/Chinatown area of Honolulu! It was originally located as a food truck in Haleiwa North Shore, even Guy Fieri featured his food in an episode of Diners Drive-ins and Dives!
We want to highlight new local businesses in Hawaii and show you how they are operating during this pandemic.
In order for mom and pop businesses to stay in business we try to support as many local businesses as we can!

I love your videos. Finally, a true local foodie (couple) and not just a tourist vlogging about Hawaii best foods. I love eating hole-in-the-wall/mom-and-pop type foods instead of overly famous touristy spots. I probably do not comment often but I watch your videos regularly even on repeat. We are on Waikiki now and have been to Ohana Hale and everything you said, I tried. All great! I did eat the Poke from there (Hawaiian style with dynamite sauce) and guys, it was BOMB 😍. We will try one of your faves from your Poke episode, soon. Hope to try more soon esp Queen st cafe and Kahilo grill.

I just wanted to leave a comment to let the both of you know how happy I was to find your channel. I was born and raised in Honolulu and left in 2000 to live in Pittsburgh, PA. I usually get to go home once a year to visit family but I haven't been home in almost 3 years. It has been so long due to having elective surgery and not being able to afford to come home then Covid and I changed my travel plans twice. By the time I actually get home this November, it will be 3 years since I've been back. Your channel has given me so many new spots that I need to visit when I'm home. Keep up the good work and showcasing the local businesses! I love you guys and wish you all of the success in the world and more!

Now, u Google for Opal Thai, no more brah….temporary closed. Food looks like what Mark Wiens had in Northern Thailand, places like Chiang Rai close to border of Burma. Their website shows they started as a food truck serving Pad Thai, green curry chicken, Mussaman n Panjang curries classic Thai dishes, but what u n Amanda had was non mainstream Thai cuisine. Wished they didn’t close down. I would hv liked to check them out. Opal must make a mean Rhad Nah beef, which is a gravy beef chow fun with fermented beans n fish sauce….Yumm. I love Thai food.

Wow, gotta say that some kind of expensive Thai Food., I guess you can't plan on a budget if you go there.🙄How many dishes did you have altogether and I didn't see any rice served. Can you still go in and order off the menu, also are there prices on the menu? Gotta say you two made the food look appetizing.

The crispy rice salad, wrapped in lettuce/cabbage, is called nam khao and is a Lao dish. The sausage is Lao sausage called sai ua. The first dish is turnip (daikon) cake and is Cantonese/Chiu Zhao origin. The chicken curry noodle dish is called khao soi, a specialty dish from Northern Thailand (Chiang Mai). Its origin is from Burma. Sorry to say, but I would not eat out of the chef's hand especially during these times and he should know better. His gesture was too forward imo. Just curious, is Honolulu indoor dining open to full capacity already, or just that restaurant?
