Mike , aloha great review...just so you know that is not Himalayan salt, it is Hawaiian salt with Alae, it is a clay that turns the sea salt red. Hope you check out more of our local restaurants there in Hawaii...your too cute the way you was eating into the Kalua pig and Laulau, you made my mouth water. The chili water is from Hawaiian chili's , it is mixed with vinegar and I would mix with shoyu. It is best to eat the Chicken long rice with some of that chili water and rice. For the squid luau, eat with rice or mix everything up....soooooo ono ( yummy )

You know the food is good when Mike closes his eyes and sits back in his seat. every time.

Himalayan salt? No, its Hawaiian rock salt with alaea which is sea salt mixed with iron oxide rich volcanic clay. That's what makes it the reddish color.

Definitely one of my favorite places to eat in Oahu . I always recommend to get there as soon as it opens to get parking and to avoid the long lines .

lau lau is my all-time favorite hawaiian food.... squid luau is a close second.... japanese preparation of butterfish uses white miso.... loved your 'replay'! I'm hungry now.

Poi actually starts to get sweet right before it turns. It's my favorite point to eat it. So tasty.

My 2nd cousin in the woods of WV used to have a big pig roast once a year too! He didn't have tea leaves but he dug a hole to cook on and covered thw pig with leaves and wood and stuff and cooked it all day. Succulent! Glad you had such a great experience 😊

I've been to Hawaii with my family seven times and I want to go back so badly. Heaven looks like Hawaii. We went to Kaui four times, twice to the Big Island (my favorite), and once to Maui.

Helena's short ribs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ahhh, this vlog is bringing back such great memories. Thanks Mikey. :)

You should try Thelma's in Waipahu. If you're a pork lover, the Thelma's Special will take your breath away. If you're in Kaimuki then I would recommend Asuka Nabe, the Asuka broth is amazing. If you're in Kalihi, you should try Island Style BBQ which give huge amounts of incredible food and their gravy is very *unique*, creamy, and savory. Also in Kalihi is Alicia's Market; which have one of the best roast pork plates I have ever tried. And Mitsu-Ken whose Garlic chicken won Best Of Oahu several years in a row. If you travel to the North Shore side then try the famous Shrimp shacks that Adam Richman also visited. If you're in Kaneohe side of the Island, then try Haleiwa Joe's, their Prime Rib is enormous. Best tip for the best eats in Hawai'i, *Go Where The Locals Go*

Went to Helena's a few weeks ago when I was in Hawaii and it was definitely our highlight of the trip. The fish was a bit too salty and fishy for me (but we didn't order much of other stuff to balance off the salt). The chicken long rice WAS DELICIOUS. It's like the best thing you can have when you're eating all the fatty stuff. But yeah, the ribs was really good...definitely the top items in Helena's. (we ordered extra ribs and long rice)

Mike...the 'butter fish'.....looks like heaven to eat.......now iam hungry again!
