Funny you mention westerns think Algerians are barbaric. It’s historically taught about how Algeria was apart of the Barbary coast (of course Barbary comes from barbar - barbarian) and some maps pre French colonization call Algeria Barbaria. I think that’s why people think barbaric because of older views. Coming from someone raised in the US

Also, not keeping dogs in homes is not about neglecting this type of animal; on the contrary, it has been indicated by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) that a woman entered Hell because she confined a cat and didn't allow it freedom, while a prostitute entered Paradise because she gave water to a thirsty dog. Everyone has their own way of caring for living beings.

@@thorleif307 my sources state that Camus was born and raised in Mondovi, known today as Drean in French Algeria and grew up very poor in the Belcourt section of the city of Algiers. There is no reference to the far east or city that you mention. U can look it up.
