Taking autistic kids into public can go many different ways. Our boys had a hard time sitting still while waiting to be seated, but the payoff was worth it. Let us know some of your experiences in public and thanks for watching!

I'm 16 and I have autism and a lot of people say I have the patience of a 2 year old. It hurts my feelings a little cause I try so hard to be patient, but it's not easy. Being compared to a two year makes all my hard work seem like I'm not trying at all. I wish neurotipical people could understand how hard it is for people with autism to be patient and not be impulsive. Maybe then they would be able to see how hard we actually work, and they wouldn't invalidate our hard work.

My 8 year old was so much like Alistair in public before he started anxiety meds. I always tried to be patient but never recognized that the touching and pushing and moving and being silly/annoying were total anxiety. He started the meds for other reasons but seeing him able to calmly wait and enjoy himself more are definitely bonuses.

Wow, impatience. This is something I really need to work on. My impatience isn’t just caused by autism, I think some of is also caused by trauma and even blindness. Because I can’t see how many people are in front of me. Also, I love sushi, just like Ian.

Impatience and anxiety have been a struggle for myself from time to time, but yeah just but getting more experience, it always helps in life in growing as a person; regardless of where you came from and where you are, all along the way!

I have never been diagnosed with autism or any other thing like that but i will be seeing a mental health professional soon to go through a diagnosis and see if i am on the autism spectrum. I definitely also get upset and impatient with stuff like this. i remember going to a market with my siblings to get new glasses and i immediately was put in a bad mood because of the smell. It smelled like fish everywhere and there were so many noises, smells, and sounds and it overwhelmed me very quickly. I completely broke down in less than an hour and it was very stressful, I couldn’t eat anything without feeling nauseous while we were waiting for the people working at the glasses place to get our prescriptions and glasses and other stuff ready. It’s very stressful whenever we have to stay at hotels and when we travel because I hate unfamiliar places and get overwhelmed with that stuff really quickly which sucks because my dad travels a lot for work, and the rest of the family lives in a different country

I used to touch everything when in public. I feel anxious if I don't move around or hold something. Autism is like being a million stars bursting all at once and you don't know what direction you should go unless someone guides you through the void. They have to get my attention or I don't know what to do. I will star off for a moment before I get the point. Eating is hard for me though. I can barely hold a spoon and fork I never could use a knife. Also, I love the sushi bar because it has the simulation I like. We have a sushi bar with a large fish tank and I made friends with one of the large fish. He greets me every time I visit the restaurant. The owner knows me and my mom by name too. It's my favorite restaurant. I would only go to that restaurant if I could.

I am a very difficult person to dine out with! Being extremely sound sensitive, I can only tolerate a very small amount of noise and chaos. Basically, any place that requires anything more than earplugs is out of the question. My Friends find it very hard to find locations where I can go. Like many other Autistics, I have a very limited type of food I can eat. I am so predictable in my food choices, most of the time my meal is ordered for me. I would not have even gotten in the door of the location you were at! Aside from noise and chaos challenges, I do not like being touched on my torso, so "close contact eating" does not work for me.

I've been there and done that! Snacks and toys in the purse are a must for this mom. Uncomfortable situations like these can be unpleasant but ultimately it's an important learning experience. As an autistic mom with autistic kids it can be tricky balancing between preventing overstimulation and experiencing some typical activities. It's challenging to be sure. You are a good, smart dad turning this into a learning experience for your kiddos.. and a great video for us to enjoy and learn from. That's what autism awareness and acceptance is all about. I have a question. When Alistair (spelling?) Does get like this, does he end up crashing hard when back home, like I know it can linger even when back home for a while. But does he end up crashing hard? Only asking b.c when my 4 year old has a longer moment with like high sensory, we get home and he will continue for a while and crash, and it can even be later, but not yet bed time. And there is no waking him up when he does, and then it can easier effect bed time. Unless it's early enough In the day that a nap wouldn't effect bed time. I hope that question made since?! 😅

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. As long as we keep it to only a couple of hours he does pretty good after some sleep. If we did this for half a day or more he would crash hard and have a meltdown. We have to find that balance.

Set my kids haven’t tried sushi and they love Japanese food you don’t because there’s a thing here you don’t eat raw food but I live in Massachusetts so I eat a little while I will. I like to start ones I like spicy spicy rolls but see that’s with crab like imitation Krabs I don’t like doing that but I like the spice in a Dere. Yeah, I’m very good sushi restaurants in Massachusetts, but I don’t know of any, but my sisters have gone through thing sort of like what your sister of gone through three years ago in the video and we’re going through something else with my mother. We just lost her not more than three years ago and I am it’s actually coming up farm almost towards Mother’s Day she almost died on Mother’s Day. My mother and my kids were way too young to remember her but one of them says she does remember about. I don’t know about that because he was so young, I hopefully he’s just making us feel better because I was surprise. He said he remembered my mom and everyone else was too and everyone and we’re having something here but we can have a Chinese food. I’m gonna get a bunch of sushi because I’ve never had it really because I don’t like it raw food because all my older brothers used to eat little pieces of raw hamburger. My mother always yelled at them and I tried raw hamburger and it’s disgusting but yeah it’s time to give sushi chance I guess because Ian looks like he loved it.❤ play party all weekend I have them eating till Saturday night and we’re gonna I’m gonna bring them late because they do sleep in the car and we’re only like 20 minutes away from each other. That’s why I moved to be close to them so I can bring them to school more often and it’s like a blessing and we did have a differences but we’re totally working a lot and she does do something wrong but I said something wrong but hey, I still don’t feel bad about it. I told her that and she agrees with me but it’s difficult for the kids but we’re trying not to fight around them. We’re trying to make things work because I don’t want my little kids who have autism not have a mother and I don’t want them not to have me cause I love them to death like it’s very hard.

I wanna know if they get the try to catch any piece of food in their mouth when they swap it like. Did you do that when they cause? I didn't I missed it and I wanted to do it again but I was like I wanted. I think it's cool but I only went to one sushi restaurant. I went to? Another but I. Wouldn't I just mean my brother used to throw it and we just make each other mad with throws? It just has to be sent not messaging. My parents said they were picking a lot of food up. It was like at the floor and we did not want roaches. We'd never got roaches I we've stayed with boggies party for some reason mice cause. We do have we. Yeah I'd and that don't want because I think it's right that they get to go outside. But I keep I'm trying to keep my. But that was fun favorite month. Did your kids experience that that she even thinks about one and then they just got to do? It didn't even a thing out there that would've been cool to see on the video. How would they like it like

Yes I can't do a good thing I'm kind of smart. It was I can't help daddy did this one time. I wanted to take him so bad but I wanted to be when you're older. I wantedna take a right now because I wanna see if you can do it and cause? But it's just didn't get stimulus so happy and then I'd make it so easy. I just find something like it may be a little hardware. Something soft like a little piece of bread from a sandwich. I do rather have little food fights but I think it was good to me. My buzz didn't say we do wait much further each other and we felt bad going up because we knew we had bugs but I cannot find weak. Maybe it wasn't worth doing this? We have no idea what kind of body was this? It was not we had a can't even look it up but it was just so weird growing up with the eggs that I think they said it was in. The eighties when they found his butt seat. I do think I'm a little ocd but I had a little kid. I just have something column hes sick right now and I feel so bad for him right now. I'm going to a lot with I'm ready to do something I and said I would never do but I have to do it. I'd like to talk to you but I wanna talk to yeah. I see I forget names a lot the dad from summer ahead cause his kids are more close to me. That's why I watch a lot of you II do like. What are you doing with your kids? But I think I watch you as if I like you. You're a good guy and I'm surprised when I pop up. I didn't even bother channel your sister reminds me of someone who I know but see hes work really hard hes a very good. Person and studied so hard and my father just said he did not like what you did to your kids. But I have my kids now and so I can have coffee but I really. Don't I make it sound like I tried so hard when I want through? I've never had a sinslip up with I have to talk to social services. I just I had to give my guns a week sometimes I have to go to hospitals but I don't talk about my kids I don't want you. To think I'm a bad parrot I try as much as I have I make a lot of money I don't want my. I like to talk to you personally but I think you will agree. I also agree I'm not raising like they should be but they're doing well. Didn't just have to watch them all from school right now and then said it's OK. I'm proud of my boys too also and it's so conbusiness like I have time but we're only 2. I'm trying to get my sun's just cool everyday cause. I can't miss it but sometimes I have to take one to the doctor I want. Try to do something with my daughter because I wanted to see my twins together. I'm gonna try to see I mean I don't even think of this. I'm like the ones using twins together but I like that too but it's like I don't even know if you do it it's like I. Have a lot of things to do but I don't work right now but I do very well for myself and my kids are won't take care of now. I had a wild ride and you will not know believe between the East Coast. How many people I know? I was especially ed almost my whole life but I had fun when I was. I learned a lot from a lot of people special ed and I didn't want to fund stuff for them. You seem to think I was wrong to say what I did in special library. It was a special case and felt like I had to be fitted in and it's all always how I felt because they always thought I was a twisted. But they had no idea. I still don't know if my little kid that calm helped me with. It's autistic I don't see a d*** thing but I am gonna get impressed with it again cause. I don't see it at all but yeah she has trouble reading. That's the only thing hes so smart but it's so confusing. I like to talk to you but I think we'd argue but I think just

Blakethegreat 3 weeks ago I'm 16 and I have autism and a lot of people say I have the patience of a 2 year old. It hurts my feelings a little cause I try so hard to be patient, but it's not easy. Being compared to a two year makes all my hard work seem like I'm not trying

Why did you not get take out after waiting ages to be seated and then having to wait for the food to be prepared? It’s a bit much to have to wait for anyone, let alone children with special needs and them being hungry

that went well I think, sitting at a crowded table, and with work happening is pretty strange for me even as an adult

Why so eager to not let him appreciate the worth of time by teaching him how to cook his own stuff? Also, why do you have to make him wait? Can't you just order the stuff without taking him there and make him arrive just in time when the plate is served? Give him a GameBoy at least! And that place is filled with noisy people! And the worst... you are giving them highly sugary stuff! 4:34 he was already eating. No wonder he shows such a face to you after such stupid question...

⚠ No-one fall for this. Note there is a comment (multiple accounts, same person) mentioning these 'herbs' on every dang autism video? Scam.
