Content like this helps us to be more empathetic to parents in general. I’m childless so it’s easy to see a child having a meltdown and think (s)he has behavioral issues when in actuality there is developmental impairments. I’m grateful you are educating me.

Before having a child I didn't even know what autism was. It just "wasn't my problem." I started reading lightly about it when I was pregnant but still very ignorant. Now I can see an autistic kiddo coming a mile away. And I run to them. You're so right.

My son is 25 never diagnosed professionally with Autism, but I believe he is on the spectrum. When he started walking as a baby he walked on his toes. The pediatrician said he would grow out of it, he didn't. Around the age of 6 I was told he could have surgery to cut his Achilles tendon to loosen it. I chose not to. He still, at 25 will at times walks on his toes. Around 6th grade the teacher said he was a really bright kid the only problem was he didn't have friends, which today at 25 is still true. He went through school and college basically without friends. It bothers me, he seems fine. He has a BS degree in Computer Science, and has veen with his job since finishing college. I guess according to where they are on the spectrum has a lot to do with progress.

DL1982 Peters DL1982 Peters It definitely wasn’t easy for me either! My Son was diagnosed at 2. I had to almost threaten for a evaluation. After his evaluation i immediately started the process of getting him in ABA. He didn’t start til 3. No one take your child as serious as you do. & It can be extremely frustrating! Don’t give up and stand firm on what you want for your babies! Keep checking on the status , don’t wait on them to contact you! Praying for a healthy baby 💕

Vaughn maybe try putting one of those big plastic mats under her high chair during meal time so that when she eats you can just gather the mat and take it out and shake it..especially since you're already so busy dealing with the day to day of being a mom to Anne..cleaning that floor 3 times could be energy you place into something else. Just a suggestion of course do what works for your family hut motherhood is tiring enough and as a special needs mom myself to a now adult child it can exhaust you....you guys are raising Anne beautifully btw ❤ Take care of you as well so that you can continue to be your best for Anne

I DECLARE AND DECREE,you are HEALED. You will be ok, take the breaths and just take one day at a time. When you find yourself discouraged, think happy thoughts, listen to inspirational music or look at a comedy show. I deal with the same things and those are the techniques that helps me. When your the caregiver, you must stay balanced but you are human. So keep doing, what your doing, and you are going to be ok. I hope it helps, if your not already doing them. GOD BLESS. 🙏

My sister's child, my nephew is autistic and he was a handful at first he had to be sent to a special program for autistic children for a time, he came back home and he was much better. Now he is in his 20's and has a part-time job at McDonald's and he does his own cooking and his own choirs. He is really quite independent now but he does have OCD, everything has to be clean in order for him to use it. I'm so proud of him he has come along way. Anne is very sweet I think she will be pretty independent as a teenager, she is quite developed already.

He taught me to be caring have empathy be kind, listen, take time for small things. An I’m so grateful that god allowed me the pleasure of being his mom. He talks about having children an being a husband❣️ I’m tearing up now ✌🏽😂😂😂

Thank you for your condolences...... I was 21 when this happened to me. I was devastated to say the least. I always wanted a healthy chocolate little girl and that's what she was. It took me 15 years to finally get to a place of acceptance..(she would be turning 21 this December).......BUT, GOD is good because he did bless me with 2 healthy kids later. Now I have a 17 1/2 year old son and 16 year old daughter........Sometimes/Most times, I feel that God knew that having a child with special needs (she was born with some physical issues) he knew I probably would have a tough time with her and he chose to keep her. I used to beg/bargain/plead with to God to let me mother her with all the love/support me and my family was ready to give her...........talk about PAIN...........Can you imagine------------Saying Hello and Goodbye at the same time to your first child?????? I can't even begin to explain that........God Bless you and your family...................

@@karenb2873 i was 19 as well, Ive always been a non attached person. Because I can handle if an when they leave. I didn't get attached to him right away because mind you I went into labor at 5 months. they told me if he survived he would have issues an I should commit him. I went to the hospital everyday with breastmilk even though he didn't eat I had a little more hope everyday. No brain bleeds, the hole in his heart closed on its own. he does have learning issues an developmental delays but my god knows what we can bare an what we can't. Now I can't picture my life without him. he made me better 100% your angel watches you, guides you. You will meet her again

I can can see the worry in your eyes, but the early intervention, attention and care you're giving to Anne is going to do/is doing wonders for her. I work in a special needs high school with a lot of students on the spectrum. the goals for each student are different, and honestly I wish they paid as much attention to students' individuality in "mainstream" schools. I definitely can't tell you how to feel or that you should care what I think, and I think you're doing a wonderful job. thank you for sharing.

I do agree. I also work in a special needs school and I can see as well as feel the anxiety mom had in Chuck E Chees. Anne truly seems to be exposed to quite a lot. Continue doing a good job mom and dad. When you need to take breaks though, kindly ask someone you trust with Anne to come over and you and dad take break. Your mental health is just as important in this progress of Anne.

The stats in the intro are so sobering, but I understand why this is happening to us. Autism life is very stressful, unpredictable, and can be isolating-along with triggering depression, anxiety and other issues that moms have to handle while making it all look like we're fine. I am a single mom and an autism mom (to my beautiful 11-year-old son), and this journey has taken everything I have to give, but because of the sacrifices my son is thriving and progressing very well. Thank you so much for sharing! Also, a very HAPPY, although belated, Father's Day to your husband for fighting the good fight by your side. Autism life will test our limits to the absolute max, much respect to you both. May Anne's speech and all other abilities continue to soar; she's a beautiful girl! Blessings!

Dude she is SOOO much like my son. The only differences is he sleeps really good and he doesn’t seem to have sensory issues. His therapist thinks he is under-stimulated but idk yet honestly. Hopefully when he starts talking more he can explain it better how he feels. Thanks for this. I never realized how important seeing parents going through the same until I saw this family guarding their toddler like my husband and I do because he was a “runner” lol it was so comforting to see cause our friends look at us like we are “doing the most” This was everything and you have inspired me to find a autism mom group around me

I absolutely love this! I don't have any autistic children myself, but I'm always fond of learning about the unknown due to when people actually come across someone autistic you know how to approach. Plus, when people see an autistic child they're afraid of asking questions because of fear of overstepping that boundary. Anne is sooo adorable and Vaughn you're a wonderful parent taking the time to learn more about and cater to her every need! That's a beautiful thing to watch the dynamic the both of you share! Please show us more about a day in the life of autism!
