just an idea on how to wire up electric cooling fans for your vehicle
COOLING FANS: amzn.to/377kLRP
those fans fit perfect on 68-72 GM A Body cars but are not recommended for LS engine swaps ... these pull like 5000 cfm together.. but I also run a desert cooler 4 row

Thanks so much for posting this Chris. I also installed the two speed, three relay option on my 76' Ford truck. I used three 16" fans two pushers and one puller with a shroud. The trucks stays on low speed with all three fans most of the time and you can barely hear them running. The high speed kick in however, is a different story. I used a dashpot from a 79 carb which is wired to the middle relay 87a and kicks my idle speed up when the three fans go to high speed. I also ran 86 on the first relay to the ignition switch and the fans turn off with the key. Thanks again!!

Hi Chris. Thank you for the great video. One thing I noted, at high temp (with the BMW two-step switch) or A/C on signal spliced into the high side sensor wire, only fan 2 will spin in high speed as the fan 1 relay is not energized and will not spin at all (Ref: your Step 2 High screenshot). I solved this by installing a bypass with an inline rectifier diode from the high speed to the low speed signal wire. ...and yes, I have watched the part 2 video.

Chris, I've been working with your layout for the two speed fan set up. I just discovered the BMW 2 temp switch, and that is how I'm going now. I am using 3 relays, as you did, middle one SPDT. 1 and 3, SPST. I am running switched 12v power to the BMW switch. From that switch, I am running the low temp wire to terminal 86, on relay #1. The high temp signal to 86, on both relay #2. and #3. #85 on all 3 relays go to ground, and #87 on relay #2 goes to ground. I hope I have it right, 'cause it even makes sense! Thank you for your help.

Hey Chris, I had a flex-a-lite a-lite dual fan with the temp controller and hooked it up exactly the way flex-a-lite directions explained on a 2004 Suburban. The problem I had was that the controller has only one small positive and negative wires going to the battery controlling both fans coming on at the same time drawing double the amps through the small positive and negative wires which is a bottle neck for the amps going through it for both fans coming on. I found out that's what the funny noise is when the fans both kick on and struggles coming on. Over time, the red wire from the temp controller gets really hot and eventually it started blowing the fuse on that red wire to the battery. Also, over time, it makes the fan motors get hot as well from struggling and eventually burns the motors up. I went through 2 sets of motors in two years. I eventually removed the controller and ran each fan with their own relay and power basically in parallel besides in series like the controller is wired as and it makes a big difference on how they turn on and no more noise, fan struggles, blowing fuses and burning up fan motors. Also with the temp controller wired up it also drains the battery faster due to hi amp draw with both fans coming on through a smaller wire which then the alternator could not even closely keep up and had to replace the alternator with a 250 amp mechman alternator to keep the battery full at all times when fans are wired through the temp controller. Don't know if flex-a-lite know about this issue with their temp controller, but they need to figure out a different way with their current temp controller wire setup. I was wondering if there was any way you could test this issue and verify the problems I had. So far it sounded like it when you connected the twmp controller, you just need to run it longer and over a period of time to get the same issues I had and I have seen others having the same issue.

I Liked it. From the number of thumbs down, it's clearly over the heads of some folks that do not have the fundamental understanding of relays and voltages and parallel vs series paths. My Flex-A-Lite controller just went out, and I'm deciding whether to bypass it and replace with this relay setup, or just pay the money and replace the control module. Thanks for the instructional.

Chris, I think what I'm going to do is use 2- 4 pin relayes with a flex-a-lite temperature controller for the 2 fans,, And a 3rd relay for the A.C. Unit to both fans. I'm going to run them separately from each other in case there's a problem in the future. I understand the 4 pin relay Well (how they work). I still would appreciate the pictures though. Thankyou so much for your video's!!! God Bless

I never knew running fans in series cuts the speed in half. I usually run one fan with a 3ohm resistor for low speed. I've used flexalite in the past don't much like them. There whicked expensive I've spent 400 on a fan setup that's nuts when you can get a better fan setup from a salvage yard for next to nothing. That fan controller you have is crazy priced a few relays neatly packed fuck that.
