The New Edge Mustang GT from 1999-2004 is an amazing sports car with a good amount of power on a budget. BUT! So is the Infiniti G35 from 2003-2008. In this video I break down the cars to better help you make the decision between the two. both of these two options are well under 5k, and truly are cheap fast car.

I have a stick shift G35 2007 sedan. I think that this note is focused on drifting and not in the car as a whole. This Infiniti is basically the best version of a BMW 3 series that you can find. Reliable, solid, uploaded, nice looking (it does not look like a 15 years old car). It is made in Japan with the best engineering and materials back then. It's 307 hp are way more than enough of what you need to have it as a daily commute and the best thing, you do not owe it.

Thought the 4.6l was slow, you are certainly right in that it sounded damn good. Set up right it reminds me of a NASCAR like sound a high screaming sound with a low rumble at idle

G35. 6mt sedan all day. No 99-04 GT has ever been quicker in a straight line than my G. None have been until the newer 5.0. Some first gen 5.0s have beat me, some haven't.

you do realize that the 4.6 in the 99-04 mustangs… aren’t really known to be fast cars. yea they sound fast but everyone who knows a lil something about those “new edges” know they’re not built for speed unless you have a Mach 1 or Termi.

I drove my 1998 gt home 700 miles a week ago. $2995 out the door, clear title in hand, temp tag on the back. Every available bolt on, plus 3:73 gears. But I searched and waited......

I got a 2006 automatic and it cost me 11k, the previous owner had installed lowered springs in the car and also put a spoiler on the back so I’m not sure if that contributes to the price. I bought it with 97k miles

I have a question at how many miles can you buy a g35 . And how many miles can you buy a new edge ? I think they both are soooo dope . The new edge has a better exhaust sound a much deeper growl . Both are dope cars 🤷🏾‍♂️.

@@silvaunit7663 I buy cars at any miles since I know how to work on them, i just go buy the condition of the body and interior. as for exhaust I've never chosen a car based on exhaust sound. i usually just delete the cats, go with bigger pipes and throw on a resonator along with a turbo muffler so it's not annoyingly loud..

I prefer a g35 for a daily just because they make a 4 door insurance is cheaper and since the cars i like are 20 years old 2 door g35s and mustangs are usaully abused but you can find some nice taken care of 4 doors for decent price

Hate to be critical because video was overall great..but..comparing 99 to 04 stangs..twice you mention improvements to G made in later models..mustangs also got more power and some say nicer interior in 05.

The New Edge and G35 are commonly compared to each other and their price point is much closer compared to the S197. The s197 started its production in 2005 and ended in 2014. I do understand where you are coming from, though.

Trying to choose. Between a 2010 manual GT 120k miles for $8,000 and a 2007 G35s sedan 150k miles for $6,500. The G35 is about 9/10 condition and the mustang I'd say is a 7/10.

Out of those choices the infiniti is better. The 2010 gt has the 4.6 liter. 2007 g35 sedan has an HR VQ motor. The VQ in this case makes the same amount of power as the 4.6 with 2 less cylinders

The G35 is a better car than the 99-04 GT. The mustang gt really was not anything special until 2011 when ford dropped the Coyote to compete with the 2010 camaro SS. A better comparison to the g35/37 would be the mustang v6 with the cyclone motor.

G35 is a better car, but the community has gone to shit and became the new ricer civics. Insurance rates are higher for the G thanks to that. Also, DE burns oil like mad when it ages, not sure about the stang.

1.) The VQ's 306 hp rating was not because of "adopting SAE ratings." In '07, the VQ35HR motor came out (sedans only - coupes retained DE rev up) and it was a different & higher horsepower motor. 2.) No 99-04 Mustang GT ever ran a 5.4 zero to sixty time. In '99, Motor Trend ran a factory freak to a 5.5 (quicker than a Cobra). All others ran a 5.6 - 5.8 time and never ran over a 100 mph trap speed. 3.) A VQ35DE absolutely cannot handle 500 hp on stock internals!! Even 400 hp is really pushing it on its stock piston rods. I doubt a stock 2V can handle 500 hp either. Anyway, I'm sorry to be a troll, but there was some bad info in this video. Both great cars for cheap fun! Also note that the G's factory performance numbers are on 91 octane while the Mustang's are on 87. The Mustang might have more potential after bolt ons, gears, and a 91+ octane tune.

Not trolley one bit! I actually appreciate the input. Wish I didn't make these mistakes. I timed a 5.6 ish on my SN95, so I assumed the numbers I've seen others get was correct. I can imagine weather, tires, and clutch could make a big different. The hp potential I read up one a lot of forums, I could be incorrect about the G35, but that's what I found. However, with the SN95, I have done a lot of research trying the find out the motors potential while I owned mine, and that was the general consensus. The Teskid block is essential if you want to go over 500hp. The the 2vs, bolt ons actually don't do much. You could install an underdrive pully to yield a bit of HP, but there really not much you could do besides gears, like you said. Boost is where the numbers are gained.

@@AutoMotivate Well, if you're referring to just engine block strength, then yes, 500 hp is probably attainable with either motor, but definitely not on stock internals.

There people actually running 500hp on stock internals right now not on pump. Idk how long it will last they don’t daily drive it I’d imagine. I’ve heard plenty people tho hitting 400whp reliably for years even hitting the drag strip often, with the right fuel and supporting mods. I wouldn’t recommend it tho it’s very risky

Add some fat drag slicks, 4,10 gears, and bolts ons will make the Mustangs a lot faster than stock. I’ve beaten RT chargers in pulls.

Unreliable? Boy you must not know much about cars. The 4.6 V8 is known as one of the most reliable engines of all time. There’s plenty of crown Vic’s and F150s with 300-500k miles. A G35 won’t last half that.

Because all G35/G37 put bus length on V6 Stangs ,my 2008 G35S 6MT with 306hp stock beat those stock 4.6 ,no problem with the recent V6 3.7 stang also

My 08 G35xS is fast. I whooped an 2010 5.0 mustang the other day. It was an 80 roll & we went to 130mph... last night I smacked a 345 Hemi Charger horribly at a Red light... I put a bus length on him & his tires were chirping the entire time. 🤣
