Bo gets to drive an LCI E70 every so often in Langkawi. After repeated drives, these are his thoughts on the car's value as a used car proposition.

e70 X5 35i had flat runs, which made car ride like on rocks, removing those made huge difference. Also another option was adaptive suspension, which mine has and it rides so good.

The bumps and off-road issue is do to the fact you have an M sport and the M sport means suspension is way harder and lowered, the regular E70 is what you need to test, and the new G05 solves your issue with 10.5 inches of ground clearance! Also there is a glovebox *

Thanks for the pointer. I totally missed the glove box button. Yes. This unit is an M version. I did not experience a regular version. The problem with this car offroad is that even if the non M version can handle the off-road stress in its suspension setup, the rest of the car may not. There is a noticeable flex in the chassis in diagonally uneven surface, and the fittings squeaks to the rhythm of the undulation.

It’s a sports car. Not supposed to be off-road. The X5 35i (not the M sport version) drives beautifully off-road. It’s even been submerged under water. When -upped from the water, the engine started immediately. Best to buy used and mod it. You can take it off-road and be comfortable at the same time. It’s a gem.

Yes you are right It is a sports car. But I wouldn't take it much further than gravel road. Even if the m version rides better offraod, the interior was squeaking in rhythm to bumps and undulation of the gravel.

Jalan Langkawi bang, jangan laju². Saya duk Langkawi jugak, rupanya abang pemilik X5 e70 yang selalu saya tengok. Macam mana bang boleh recommend tak untuk saya. Teringin nak pakai conti. Sebelum pakai kereta JDM 3.5.nak try tukar plak e70.

I'm not you, but I felt pretty embarassed just watching to your unresearched, off-the-cuff review - had to shut off after you told viewers it has no glove box (yes, there is, and quite deep too!). There are plenty of off-road videos that shows the car is somewhat capable off tarmac - the issue with the harsh ride may have to more with the run-flats. Much, much more homework is needed on your part if you want to be taken seriously

Apologies for the glove box. I totally miss the mark on that one. Off the cuff reviews is what we do. We are not paid directly by the automotive industry and we see the car as it is. Run flats or not, wrong sized wheel or otherwise, the car is factory stock. Doesn't change the fact that the car rides more harshly than it should. More harshly than many comparable cars, even similar utilitatian cars a quarter it's price. As for the off-road ability. Is is subjective. I did not take it off road, just taking it off the tarmac to the gravel curb discourages me to take it any further. Even if it was capable of going off-road, the car definitely discourages you from doing it.

i hate that this guys review is on top of search results. you had run flat tires, with the sports suspension and THERE IS A GLOVE BOX. wasting my time with this crap.

Well he says that about all European cars except Volvo
