The character animation is not believable. The knee jerks sharply the moment it leaves the ground. When landing, the character seems to levitate. From the video reference it is clear that when landing, the actor has a speed that he extinguishes with his left leg using a spring. This is not in the animation; free fall braking occurs while still in the air.

One of the best tutorial ever seen. Really good lenght. (maybe you could even have skipped or shortened the parts describing the physics state types / air rotation to get it down to 30m - personally I think 25-30m is the best time for a tutorial I needed to give off track deeper info show link overlays during the tutorial to another clip) Would love then to have this tutorial broken down to a few other of 25m focusing on each the topic areas you had in this. so Basically recreate the same anim but go slower and more deeper with info there. Great work!

We could simply follow the walk cycle poses in The Animator's Survival Kit book, because the timing is simple. It's better to see more Cascadeur body mechanics tutorial, since it's the main strength of the software and it's more difficult to time a physics animation than a walk or run cycle

First of all, awesome software :) I am trying the software atm. I have a scenario where my character should do a skateboard jump from one roof to another. The problem is the imported temp geo of the roofs isnt recognized as colliders. They are on different heights and the software thinks my character is flying while it should stand on a skateboard on top of a building. You know where or how to define geo as colliders/or ground objects?Saw on your channel that characters can interact with cubes and poles etc, but you never show how. Also when I want to kickflip my skateboard, rotation doesnt allow 360 turn on an axis, it basicly doesnt turn. If I do a 180 degree subframe in between, the board flips half and than back. Maybe you have some tipps for me, would be awesome. Thanks :)

As 1 of the many Millions of Blender users, it would be nice if the button/key languages were at least somewhat similar in this software... Shift + A or D to switch between frames? Why not just the up/down arrow buttons. Spacebar is usually the play button for almost all software. And navigating around the scene with the mouse/clicks etc It's not too bad to get used to, and I'm also not complaining or meaning anything negative. It's just switching back-and-forth between a few different softwares with different controls all the time for a workflow is super jarring. Slightly more universal control options would be nice. Marvelous Designer and other softwares allow this config. AMAZING software Cascadeur is though, from what I can tell so far. Congratulations on all the hard work coming together

Of curse there are. To start with - this tool is mostly suitable for movements like on the video: tricks, fights, strikes and move that are not cycled. They are working on cycled moves but well i dont really remember what is the current state. Also this tool is not good for interactions with props and environment: picking up something, reloading a gun or shoot with a bow and so on is something that is not yet impelemente(if at all) as good as in Maya or Blender.

As an ex animation student, i don't know why this kind of technology wasn't the default in computer animation. Question about a feature I do not understand. From a certain time, all of my keyframes have a black dot. In Point Controller mode the controllers have blue boxes only at those keys with black dot. When I apply physics to this section of keyframes with black dots, the bones (edges) got pulled apart (red edge) or squashed (blue edge) causing jittering on each frames with black dots. When I put a new keyframe after a certain time all my new keyframes gets the black dot and blue box on the controller. This appears to prevent correct physics application. How can I prevent this?

@@user-cd4pp4kp7c Thank you. I think I have to use Shit R on a key frame or Alt Shift R on range selection to toggle the blue boxes ON and OFF around the Point Controllers. I must have pushed Shift R which got me into this mode. (The R locks the controller in the air with red box. The Alt R is doing something else on my setup.) The Shift R generates some kind of Fulcrum key, mentioned under the constraint section in the documentation. As long as I set this OFF, I can apply the physics without any problem.
