I was in the same boat as you, I did not expect this album to be so good considering it was only released almost exactly a year after the last one, but it really is great. I do think this is better than Morbidity Triumphant, and I'm gonna go further and say it's up there with their very best work. Fucking amazing album 🤘🤘

Autopsy is becoming a Halloween staple kinda like candy corn and just as sick. Id love to see this tradition continue but its unlikely because at some point Chris is going to have to take a break. He has been extremely busy the past couple years. Great review as always guys.

That lead-off single, "Throatsaw", sounds like it could've been a Cannibal Corpse song. That thumbnail looks like Jammin' Jon is portraying Angus Young of AC/DC from the front cover of that live album, If You Want Blood, which the cover depicted Angus being impaled through the stomach with a Gibson SG. By the way, on February 23rd, Job for a Cowboy will be returning with their fifth studio album, Moon Healer, which will be their first album since 2014.

AUTOPSY never put out duds. Always great stuff! Some of the heaviest and catchiest riffs in Death Metal.

Another killer record a year after their last killer record. Man, Autopsy have been so consistent over the years. With the exception of Acts of the Unspeakable and Shitfun, everything they’ve released has ranged from really good to amazing. I’ll have to see these guys on tour when I get the chance. cool review - my copy turned up yesterday and I am really enjoying it. I really hope they play the UK on this album cycle! I love the fact we are surprised when a band can do two good albums within a year of each other when in the 70s bands did two decent albums a year!!

Album is seriously awesome. better than morbidity Triumphant? yes, maybe! it does sound a little insane that they came out with this so soon, but only in terms of nowadays bands. Back in the 70s bands would regularly do one, maybe even two albums a year. And given that Autopsy kind of sounds like a band from the 70s playing death metal (at least to me), that's kind of fitting I guess. I for one have always associated Autopsy with melody. yes, the music is disgusting and vile, but it's also way more melodic than a lot of other especially uS death metal, like Cannibal Corpse for instance. Sometimes it's in the big bluesy riffs or harmonies, sometimes in the solos. It's there in the beginning and I especially noticed it on Macabre Eternal which has some very melodic sensibilities at times.

Cheers fellas! This latest Autopsy album is absolutely crushing and you nailed it as regards the awesome doom, punk, thrash, death and trad metal infusions within this masterpiece. Why do Autopsy always unfairly miss out on the best ever death metal band tag? I rate them above all and my reasoning is simple. Autopsy are utterly unique. Nobody else mixes it up like they do with everything perfectly twisted, organic and deranged. Chris Reifert is one mega talented metal head & his drumming has never bored me like so many other one dimensional artists. Danny and Eric's riffs and solos are way ahead of the pack plus the new bassist slays. All hail Autopsy. I've been a huge fan since Severed Survival. I cannot stop listening to this new opus and who else can match that? Nobody.

I was really surprised by the classy and melodic bass guitar and almost quieter moments on the album that reminded me of prog rock or some of Maiden's proggier sections

I really respect musicians who can play and sing at the same time. I just think singing and drumming at the same time needs special talent. I bought Morbidity. Will buy this.

They’ve been on an absolute roll since Skull Grinder def osdm gods yet they evolve love this band and love this album the death grinding doom the vile lyrics it’s a perma stank face listen unhinged yet melodic and that nasty bass really ties the room together AUTOPSY rules…the Static Abyss has bled into their classic sound and man has it created a snarling beast of hellacious auditory bliss would love an Exhumed Autopsy tour…Chris has been doing this almost as long as I’ve been alive ( Scream Bloody Gore) he is the crypt keeper of osdm

I didnt love their last album (morbidity triumphant) but this album is incredible. Definitely one of my favourites of the year

Autopsy are hit and miss for me. This is definitely one of the good ones tho. Probably my favourite since Macabre Eternal back in 2011. Defo some awesome riffs on this thing. Great review again you guys!

Didn't Autopsy just released an album?

This record leans more to the death metal side of things, however, there are some doomy parts. Actually the last song sounds pretty much doom, you take out the gutturals and it can be a Black Sabbath song.

Ah man, this is so much fun. I'm not normally sold on the doomier stuff, generally I like my shit to go like a caffeinated gerbil, but the soupy grooves here are scratching an itch I didn't know I had. Plus the lead work is killer - iconic as the band is I don't see too many people commenting on that aspect of their sound but even so far back as severed survival they were kicking out some tasty fucking solos.

I was saying in other comments that music outlet was closing ...however they have managed to buy themselves some more time ...till December which is killer ...there is a point to this and that pus is being rotted right here ...as I picked this up from there those necks acquired it a little early and damn !!! Once again these rotted pus necks managed to do it again no buyers remorse just brutal pus filled goodness sick album indeed sir !!!! ☝️😋🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘 hails aye 😁🤙
