They had to. With slowing sales and the upcoming ev tax credit coming to an end for Tesla buyers, as well as the company reaching it’s ZEV credit limit, Tesla had to do something to bolster sales for end of year numbers. So as to keep Tesla stock owners happy and to keep them buying stock

Really great car, I think the one thing that needs changing (at least for Europe and Asia) is the stalks. It’s just impractical having them removed and it’s just really Tesla finding a solution to a problem that doesn’t exist. Overall, it’s an incredible car, but I think the Model Y refresh next year will be even better!

@astro-snake
@astro-snake 7 ай бұрын
I don’t like it either, however, they removed the stalks to reduce the cost of the car for the consumer, that’s how this refresh is cheaper than the previous version. Also, autonomous smart functions, like the car knowing if you need to reverse or drive forward, can reduce the amount that you need to interact with the car. A similar feature that automatically indicates for you could be available in a software update. There is also FSD, while in beta atm, within the 20+ years lifespan of the car, will be available and reduce the need to interact with the car even more.

Yeah, Tesla has a lot of dumb ideas. This car is still not right for me, even though it looks way better. The Model S is the closest to a car that I'd want (hatchback, air suspension, roomier, gauges behind the steering wheel, etc), but it's too expensive for my budget.

They are built with the cheapest parts available. How I know? my friend is a Tesla technician.The steel is junk, the paint is junk, the high voltage cables are made by the cheapest materials you can find, replace them 24/7. The door latches,window motors, window regulators etc are made of the lowest quality in Mexico. The steering shaft is a Range Rover design build cheaply in the philippines, replaced 24/7. The taillights are build cheap in Mexico, a Lexus led tail light cost 5× times then a Tesla led tail light, maybe a reason I have never seen a broken Lexus tail lights vs a Teslas everyday with broken tail lights. Don't make me start on the heat system, because they even comes broken from the factory. Cheap junk.

@@Oklm23 You are proud over a 2021 model? come back in 12 years. Model S started with Continental air suspension, then they switched to a cheap copy from Mexico. First they were going to switch to Kyb but the price for a quality product was too strong for them to handle. Their clock springs became a nightmare after stopping using clock springs from Mercedes. Model S struggles with bad poor suspension parts casted in aluminum since they of course stopped using the factory in Canada who makes aluminum suspension parts for Porsche,Lexus,BMW,Audi,Mercedes,Dodge, Corvette ect. The Model S has major problems with ground wires corroding to the point of complete destruction since Tesla mix aluminum and steel, Model S also har major problems with subframe cracks, The radiator support is such poorly casted the aluminium often crumbles and cracks. The two temperature sensors in the electric motor cannot withstand heat and breaks over time, the sensor cant be replaced so a new $8000 drive unit is needed for a $300 sensor. For some reason, Tesla decided to install all computers and connectors where the drainage for the sunroof goes out under the car, causing damage for thousands of $$ if the system clog. The wires to the doors are too short, a Fiat problem from the 70s, the wires to the tailgate are bent and under pressure at the rear of the roof, which ends up breaking all the wires. Taillights cracks and struggle with fog, the heat pumps etc are made out of plastic, never lasting more than 5 - 8 years, their AC lines are crimped wrong, the brakes lines somehow has air in them, rusting apart from inside, Somehow Tesla has made subframe bushing which cannot be replaced. Good luck.

Fantastic video. I think you just sold me on looking into selling my 2018 Model 3 and seeing about getting a new one. Though I'll likely still wait to see when a new battery comes along. That said, when making the open butthole joke, one should probably call out that this function doesn't really have a use case scenario anyway and is just one of many silly easter eggs that has popped up in the software over the years. There is never a time that you need to open the charge port from inside the car. And if you're outside the car it opens by pressing a button on the charge cable, or by simply pressing on the charge port itself. But if you did for some reason need to open the charge port from the driver seat, when the car is in park, there's always a button on the screen for that.
@OMGWTFLOLSMH
@OMGWTFLOLSMH 7 ай бұрын
"There is never a time that you need to open the charge port from inside the car". Not true. When asking a passenger to plug in the charger, it's much easier if you open it first if they don't know the car.
@BaneSIlvermoon
@BaneSIlvermoon 7 ай бұрын
@OMGWTFLOLSMH Fair enough I guess. In five years, I can't say I've ever even considered asking a passenger to plug in the car. But regardless, like I said the car has to be in park to plug it in, and when it's in park, there's a button in the middle of the screen to open the charge port. One less step than using voice commands. You've gotta push a button in both cases.
@djb730

Either way, you don’t have to use that voice command, there’s about 4 other ways of doing it. It’s just a joke, get over it.

@BaneSIlvermoon 7 ай бұрын
@djb730 I'm aware. The point is that those who don't already drive a Tesla are not. That's not a responsible approach to a product review (and as you stated, is inaccurate). And of those four ways to open it, voice command has the most steps and is the least practical. Only reason Tesla even added a voice command for the charge port is because they enjoy adding silly unnecessary items in software updates.

Funny thing is that they call it minimalism, yet they removed the gear shifter and put its functionality on the monitor. But then they added separate gear control buttons just in case the monitor doesn't work? If that's the case, why not just keep it simple with just one column gear shifter with no extra buttons? It would be much more intuitive and less confusing. It’s just cost-saving..

Yea as far as I know it has fog lights in the main units, at least from the one I saw and sat in in the Netherlands. Also, it has blind spot monitors in the car for years now, it's integrated in the screen and ACTIVELY steers away from obstacles if it detects one. I had a car take the inside lane as I was moving to the right so he ended up in my blind spot and the car intervened to steer me back into the left lane with a red car highlighted on screen and a warning sound. Better blind spot monitor than any light you can put into a mirror.

What an informative and engaging review! As a 2022 Model 3 owner, the improved aerodynamics (improving highway speed range), quieter cabin, and improved suspension are significant and positive changes. I would have liked to know how well the new car handles compared to the previous model, not just that it's more refined and comfortable. Removing stalks for turn signals is a really poor idea from a safety perspective. If anything, I would have instead added more function to the existing stalks (more wiper function) for safety. I also would improve the brakes. The screen and function of the screen are brilliant and I have no problems operating everything from it. (except wiper function should be a direct switch for safety). A heads-up display for speed would be a bonus. Still, this remains the best EV sedan for the money available at this time. EM's negative social-political effects on the world are the only reason I'd look anywhere else for my next EV.

With roundbouts here in the UK and other parts of the EU, the omission of indicator storks is a backward step IMO in terms of functionality and safety. Indicating whilst exiting a roundabout is often done whilst the steering is turned, having to locate buttons on a moving steering wheel is impractical and if you’re required to look down at the wheel to locate same it’s frankly unsafe. Form over function, and unfortunately, it’s a deal breaker on an otherwise nicely upgraded vehicle.
