Welcome to our Autumn Garden Tour of fabulous flowers, celebratory bulb trifles (aka bulb lasagne), inspiration from the cloud pruning technique of Niwaki, and a somewhat stormy season of change, hope, and renewal. Besides the beautiful plants, which include Hesperantha coccinea ‘Pink Princess’, Hesperantha coccinea ‘Major’, Convolvulus cneorum, Mahonia ‘Soft Caress’, Wax Begonia (Begonia Semperflorens) and Spring to Autumn blooming Orange Welsh Poppies (Meconopsis cambrica var. aurantiaca) there are handsome Red Admiral Butterflies, dear little Hummingbird Hawk-Moths, and beautiful Bumblebees taking centre stage in the garden right now. We hope the flowering plants and feasting pollinators bring you much pleasure on this tour around all things lovely and uplifting in October and early November, in our 10m x 10m garden in Kent, South East England. We hope to welcome you here again soon!

So nice to see all the insect activity in your garden which by the way is looking as gorgeous as ever. I hope the mystery of your missing bulbs gets sorted as you'll be wanting to get them planted. I also hope that the latest storm didn't do too much damage in your garden. I'm pleased to say that we missed it despite the weather warnings.

Good evening and thank you for your kind message, Wendy. We’re glad there was no more rain blown under your roof tiles! Here, we suffered negligible damage compared to many, so I guess the missing bulbs are a minor irritation in the grand scheme of things. Sending best regards.

Thank you for your kind message Annette. There‘s no sign of self-seeding bamboo, but perhaps germination is delayed and we will wake one morning to a small forest on the lawn! Sending best wishes.

Good morning. Wonderful video (again). Can you tell me what variety your circle of lavender is? Thanks in advance.
@ApplePeaFernSea

Good morning and thank you so much, Deb. Lavandula angustifolia 'Folgate’ is the variety. It is relatively compact and seems to begin flowering a little earlier than some English lavenders.

Thank you, so glad you enjoyed it! Our meditating frog was bought a few years ago at the fabulous Herons Bonsai Nursery in Surrey, a wonderful place for Zen inspiration (and not far from Kew’s Wakehurst Place).

Can you tell us the name of the hydreangeas that grow next to the bench? Do they grow in pots or in the ground? They go so well with the evergreen grasses. Is it carex?
@ApplePeaFernSea
@ApplePeaFernSea 6 ай бұрын
The grasses are Acorus gramineus 'Ōgon’, which is sometimes sold as a marginal aquatic. Our hydrangeas were originally bought as a pair of small house plants from a local supermarket, which we transferred to garden pots at the end of the summer. Unfortunately, there was no specific cultivar label with them but they are hydrangea macrophylla.
