Take a deep breath and take a break. Spend time hunting with your dad if you can. Those are priceless moments that should be enjoyed to the fullest. The firewood will still be there after hunting season. Cheers

You have what looks like such a great property. Sometimes it’s good to step away from the normal work you do on the property, and do something to relax and really enjoy the property. I am with everybody else here take some time off and enjoy your hunt.

Dad and I built lots of corduroy roads when I was 14 year. At 60 years old I went into the same area to help build an ATV road. Interesting to note the corduroy road sections were still in place and very solid. If the wood gets buried in the mud or cover over with dirt it lasts longer as the wood does not rot very quickly with no oxygen from being buried.

That is great feedback. I was impressed with how stable the road becomes as soon as it is built. I can see how it would firm up even more over time as everything settles seasonally. Thanks!

There's an old saying. All work and no play, makes Jack a dull boy. Good luck filling your tag. Now, I need to heed my own words and do the same lol

You said " you guys tell me what you'd do"..... in reference to deer hunting..... As much as I love the woods I am a retired deer hunter after sitting in stands almost freezing to death even though I live in Georgia so do what I do. I buy meat locally grown soon after it's been butchered because it's already processed completely ready to cook, can or throw in the freezer wrapped and labeled. Yep I'm retired from hunting but sometimes the deer get into my orchard or garden even with fences so occasionally deer steak and gravy is on the table. As far as cost wise in buying or hunting it's close to the same. If I included my labor in the cost the butchered beef is probably cheaper. I'm also lazy. Your Retriever always wants to help. Beautiful dog. God Bless. NW ga.

That’s an option too! We have an excellent butcher shop 5 kms away and lots of local beef farms as well. I have to get bundled up good for the stand!

well the good thing about hunting is you can take some time for your self because just sitting in the bush alone with nature is as good as it gets and if you get lucky and a deer gets a tad sloppy you have just added some good meat to the table and big bucks are not as a young one or a fat dry doe is the best but you cant eat the antlers and they make lousy soup lol but you had the enjoyment of being in the bush and seeing nature at its greatest good hunting bud

Thanks. Dad connected with a nice 7 point one field over. We actually got the meat back from the butcher today. It was nice to field dress and skin the deer out with Dad. We’ve done a few of them!
