Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe, yes, you'd get the same result, but doing it on each individual track is more cpu intensive. By sending multiple tracks to a single aux fx track via a bus, you're putting less strain on the computer.

You certainly can do that but you are going to use more of your CPU ability, and you may run of out of processing power.

You do want to process each one separately. You start the mix that way. If you have an analog board or a nice computer you can route the tracks to their busses, aux tracks, and master all at once. Otherwise you will probably want to record each of the tracks with the effects on them, all at once (so you can hear the mix), then do the same thing for the next stage of the mix down. To be honest though that kind of sucks, but it’s possible. You route the tracks to busses so that you can process multiple tracks together. It’s part of the mixdown process and it should come right after each track is processed individually. For instance, you might want to process each drum microphone individually, then process them together by blending them into a bus and adding some subtle compression/EQ on the bus or something to glue the sound together so they don’t sound like they were processed separately, it’s also a good point to add reverb because the reverb, either natural or synthesized, reacts to the overall sound being fed to it, so it would sound different if you put it on each individual tracks than if you put it on a drum bus, and since natural reverb is is responding to the sound of the entire instrument, it often sounds better to put it on a bus. Busses actually come from analog circuitry. They basically serve the same function as aux tracks in most DAWs except that they can help a LOT with workflow especially when you have that nice computer and you can play all your tracks and busses with FX at once so you can adjust your mix from bottom to top while listening. Busses simplify that situation and will reduce CPU usage but if you are doing it one stage at a time and recording the FX into aux tracks then you may not need them.

set the reverb wetness on the aux to 100%, that will help

it depends, if you're just creating buses then you would set the outputs to the aux tracks. For reverbs and other effects where you're using sends, you would send as much as you want the effect to be wet. I.e. think of it as a wet / dry control for the aux

I think you may be overcomplicating it :) By default, your sends go down to the aux for processing and then the AUX OUTPUT goes to the stereo out (master bus). You can of course route the aux output wherever you want. Hope that helps!

I guess what I don't understand if I have an audio track that has no local FX on the FX chain, has two sends, and where the output is set to stereo out, then is the signal that gets goes out on the second send the raw audio from the track? Or is it the raw audio from the track plus whatever processing happened with the first send? ... Related, in the scenario above, are there three signals getting merged and mixed into the master bus (#1 send->stereo out, #2 send-> stereo out, #3 raw audio->stereo out)? Please let me know if this is involved for YT comments, let me know if a quick call (with you on the clock) makes more sense.... not trying to be a freeloader. nothing wrong with that, actually I prefer it as I've done here. it gives you the flexibility to use stereo effects on a mono signal

Genesis generally that will be the case, especially if the beat is already at commercial levels. Your vocal won't be that loud until you start compressing with make-up gain

right. i read an article that said the audio should be coming in at about -18 dbs. ive had cases where its lower. i think i just need a better recording space though. thank for the reply!

Hey Demetrius, assuming your sub has speaker outputs you would route the signal from your interface to the sub and then connect your speakers to the outputs on the hs8

I never used a sub in my home setup. he basically has his monitors plugged directly into the subs(when he turns off the sub the monitors turn off too) I told him this doesn't seem right but I'm not sure what's right. seems like the monitors should go to the interface

that's generally the way a sub will be setup with monitors. In my case, I could route another output from my interface but that would bypass the built in crossover on the sub.

make sure you're routing to a stereo bus, that way you can route mono signals (panned) and have the control there
