Why is good dog food expensive?
If you pay someone to make the food for you, it will cost more, and for dog food businesses to keep their costs low, they often reduce the quality of the ingredients in their meals. Sometimes to a level that could be considered as very healthy for dogs, if not dangerous.
I always try to encourage dog owners to learn about nutrition, as it's arguably the most important tool in keeping their dog healthy, out of the vets and alive longer.
DIY = Cheaper
DIY = Simple
DIY = Healthier for dog
DIY = Your best option.

When I rescued my last dog he was very underweight and he was neglected he did put on the weight but over time I did change it because I wanted to change to a higher quality Thankfully he thrived on this new food as he became healthier that’s when his behaviour problems occurred I did rehome him to a close friend and I do get regular updates and he is thriving When I’m in any pet store I always read the ingredients and I’m just shocked by the crp allowed to be added in dogs food I get where this man is coming from but very few owners have the time to make raw dog food

HI, a great video and very informative. I have a 12 week old rottie, when we bought her, the last owner had her on AVA so i bought this for her. After seeing this im horrified to find out im giving it to her on a daily basis. Plus I cannot figure on via the bag how much to feed her per meal. I dont want to put her on raw food, so i need a good dry food for her. Which do tou recommend. Youve got a new sub. Thank you Im here in the UK

Did you change food and if soo what too? My boy is on Ava and is only 5 months old. I've not got issues with it, he is packing weight on and eats it no problem but id like to feed him healthier if this isn't good for them.

My Bella (Miniature dachshund) is on the AVA hypoallergenic dry food and Im now in the process of doing homemade cooked food. She had an MRI on wednesday for skipping and hopping on her back leg. They scanned her back and legs. Shs got a grade 1 slipping patella and early stages of Calcification of vertebrate cartilage IVDD. So that was gutting to hear. I want to get her on to a better healthy diet, I know this condition isnt going to go away, but im hoping i can slow it down with good whole foods and good clean supplements. She only 2 1/2. I asked the vet about raw food and he was NO NO NO you and you dogs will get sick. Then went on to say about all the nasty things we can catch from raw feeding.

The more quality fresh meat and other foods she gets, raw or cooked, the healthier and stronger she will be. Your Vet knows nothing of nutrition, much like doctors know nothing about food either. Only ops and prescriptions, not genuine healthcare.

My mrs is adamant ava is the best of a bad bunch, i disagree after watching this video and researching online. We have a 9 week old rottweiler X Staff X GSD, what food would you recommend for her? Shes got a predicted weight at adult between 30-35kg. Thanks!
