Such a phenomenal lady... _When They See Us_ was heartbreakingly accurate and a much needed story to be told 👏🏾👏🏾

Accurate? Not in the least. You can watch the actual police interviews and NONE of them went down the way DuVernay claimed.

There's no director that does such important and of quality work as Ava Duvernay right now. She should keep the social justice woman badge on, she does it justice and she is tremendously gifted. She truly deserves all of the praises and accolades for "When they see us" It was sublime on so, many, different, levels.

Not really. It was a hack job by a person who doesn't care about the truth. She threw LBJ under the bus in 2014 and now she's throwing rape victims under the bus.

I totally understand what Ava’s saying. I always felt that social political films are hear strong suit, but also wanting to have a film or 2 in between to break out of the genre.

I love that she had a counselor on set in case someone needed to just talk it out. I never realized how some actors really carry their characters around with them till I heard Any Adams talking about how hard it was for her with Sharp Objects, and Nicole Kidman and her character on Big Little Lies

Ava is a real game changer, I really look up to her and the way she thinks and films and gives herself to the stories. When They See Us was hard to watch but it teaches so much. Everybody everywhere should see it.

It's not her fault. When you only have one view of the world, you tend to think everything is shaped that way and read the facts through that lens. Victimhood is an awfully tantalizing place to live.

It’s so hard to feel like you don’t belong in a room where virtually no one looks like you. But I aspire to cultivate the level of confidence Ava Duvernay has within herself to know that she does indeed belong there, and with her head held high!!! I am so proud of this woman, have followed her career and will continue to support her projects because storytelling is an art, especially storytelling from the Black perspective, and I appreciate the griot in Ava. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

DuVernay is caring enough to ask her cast what they can do to combat the detrimental effects of playing in these heavy roles, and at times, morbid scenarios that have been shown to be potentially harmful to an actor's health, which I feel should be more commonplace in various industries. I mean, look at Heath Ledger and The Dark Knight. How much more of an impact would it have had on him to have on set counseling while playing a literal sociopath?

& bruh Dave: Well I would think that you wouldn't mind allowing your work to be a sort of social justice but again, That's what A lot of black people does. Sellout for Hollywood, prestige and money but it's okay to do Black movies to get some clout, publicity and money but to be called a social justice attribute through any service . . I thought was great . . Hmm 🤔
