The point of these things is to dose fully saturated kalk water. with you only putting 2T and dosing fresh water into it regularly you arent fully saturating the water inside of the reactor so your dosing will be forever changing not only the amount your adding to tank but also the amount your adding to the reactor and what its dilution is. Dump a cup or two in the reactor and the water that is currently in the reactor will fully saturate (it can only hold so much) and as the new water comes in it will also fully saturate because of the "reserve kalk" not yet in solution gets mixed into the new water...thus...saturating it. Now you have one variable to deal with when dosing "how much fully saturated kalk to I need to dose". Now just start low and check every 24 hrs increasing the ML your adding until you are maintaining the alk you want.

I think you are using very little kalk. For that reactor you need (depending on your evaporation) up to 2 cups

I know, I’m probably late to the party, it looks like your video was posted over a year ago. I think you’re supposed to maximum saturate by putting almost 2 cups in that solution - putting 2 teaspoons or tablespoons or whatever you said is definitely not enough. Do you think you could provide a response to this? I’d be curious to know what your situation is a year later - I’m about to add a Calc server to my set up and I’m just in the position you were in about a year ago - thanks in advance!

Since the video, I cleaned out the Kalk Stirrer and refilled a couple times. In my experience/opinion, it works best to fill it up just to the top of the stirrer arms. I have found that if the Kalk goes over the arms, they move it around underneath, but doesn’t dissolve the Kalk as well. As long as the arms are not covered completely, it seems to work better. Whenever the Kalk level gets to the bottom of the stirrer arms, I add more. It took around a cup initially and I add a 1/4 cup about every couple weeks. But mainly just go by sight/level.

@@joshdoesreefing7241 hey thanks! I know you can easily adjust the height of the stirring mechanism, so you can add more powder (saw that on a BRS TV video, so it must be true! Heh) … are you dosing 24x7? Do you still run the stirring motor only 5 mins an hour?
@joshdoesreefing7241 Жыл бұрын
@@chrish6659 I have changed it up now. I dose roughly 1 gallon per day and run the stirrer 24/7. You want the stirrer sitting as close to the bottom as you can get it without touching.

@@joshdoesreefing7241 great, that makes a lot of sense. Do you dose that over a 24 hr period, and if so - which device does the dosing? I am thinking about getting an eco tech versa or kamor (probably spelling wrong) pump to does continuously over a 24 period - thoughts?

@@chrish6659 I am currently using Neptune DOS. I like it for the fact it is a part of app/controls of Neptune. The downside to it is that it is the loudest Doser I have used. The EcoTech versa is good. Cons are that the lines seem to wear out faster and it does not have off-network/web control. But still a good Doser. I have one, but not using it currently. The Kamoer is probably the most reliable. They have different models and hold up well. I have had some connection issues with app. I currently run one on my calcium reactor. You have to figure that they make medical grade dosers as well. But I have used and mostly still use all 3. Any of them will work fine.

I'm also running dos with k1 but can't get it to push out kalk if using dos. It take a good 2 minutes if I press the manual button for kalk to push out but in auto kalk won't push out idk what I'm missing

It doesn’t seem to work well with the soft tubing. You have to modify the Dos with the hardline adapters and use them. Works fine after that.
