Good video, Devin. Sometimes, it's the Suttle things that help you to understand. In this case, it was looking at when the ato pump was running to adjust the kalk dose. Thanks again for helping me understand. I know Robz is into the kalk slurry. I'm not there yet, but enjoy learning.

Just built my k1. Very easy to build.

i used that model before I went full on slurry. It worked fairly well, don't over fill it as it can build up and become inert over time, stick to the recommended amounts and I yanked that 90 degree elbow as it was more of an obstruction over all. If you are in the market for a stirrrer, this is a good one overall.

I'd love to learn your setup on how you get the water from your ATO to the stirrer, and then from the stirrer into the tank. I have your Apex program, but what do you have plugged into the apex that's being controlled? The stirrer, the versa pump, something else?

Other than the size being a factor, would you prefer the icecap or the avast. I am looking at both at the moment just not sure which one would work best in addition to my two-part dosing. I have a 100-gallon mixed reef. just in case you need that info

Am I correct in the assumption that when you already have a calcium reactor in use that you reduce the effluent from the calcium reactor so as not to add to much alkalinity to the tank and then use the kalk to make up the reduction in the calcium reactor output to then bring the alkalinity back up to where you like and also bring up the tank PH?

Good afternoon. I'm writing to try and figure out why I can't get my PH up in my reef tank. I'm using the same setup as you with the Avast Kalk Stir but I all of a sudden can't get my PH to average over 7.5 even when dosing up to 10 liters of Kalk a day. When I first started the kalk the PH rose to 8.4 easily but now, no matter what I do I can't get the PH up. My skimmer pulls air from my attic through a BRS twin chamber CO2 scrubber. The windows in my fish room are open and my CO2 monitor in the room is constantly under 550 ppm. I have an air stone running full speed right below where the Kalk stir dumps into my sump. I'm out of answers or solutions. Do you have any idea what my problem might be? My tank parameters now are Alk 10.6, Ca 471, and Mag 1475 Thanks

Hello Devin, how are things going with your kalk stirrer? How do you run it now? Are you still stirring 24/7? How much kalkwasser do you add to refill? Do you dose day and night? What is your ph and other elements like kh, calcium and mag?

is this the type of slurry you want to dose? i imagened a more consistent milky mix in the entire container. would the Geo kalk reactor which uses a recirc pump not work for slurry?

Hi Devin, Do you think it would be ok to have your dosing pump pulling from the sump so you're adding saltwater to the reactor instead of rodi? My auto top off is gravity fed using a float valve so my sump is always at the correct level. Wouldn't this help keep the salinity the same all the time? Once the reactor is full initially with saltwater and the dosing pump kicks on, wouldn't it just be trading saltwater for saltwater therefore keeping the salinity constant? Looking forward to your thoughts on this.

Hi, just curious, are you getting an improved ph with this one or the Icecap version? My system is struggling to push to 8.07-8.10 during the day and dive to 7.80 at night. That is with the KALK Mixer as well as recirculation skimmer set-up... I have since stopped the recirculation and just pull air directly from outside directly to the CO2 scrubber as of today...will monitor the levels, but I wanted your input

What happened to your DIY Kalk stirrer? Does it still work or did you stop using it?

Mine worked great for about four months. Then it stopped mixing the kalk. Stirrer moves, but the kalk isn't getting absorbed. Avast wouldn't help me with the problem, instead suggesting that I change the schedule and dose according to usage. I told them fine, but that's not what the problem is. I gave up asking for help.

I heard you shouldn't go above 12.4 ph for the kalk solution. What are your thoughts about that? I'd assume 2 cups of kalk (brs pharma) would be way higher than 12.4?

Where did you get the silicon tubing going to the Kalk stirrer?

Never used kalk but a question I’ve always had . Do you have to chance the kalk out or do you just keep adding more ? How long does it last usually?

I saw a kalk +2 logo under the reactor? From personal experience BRS Pharma kalk is far superior. I even had some build up of unwanted elements from k+2.

Wast of money kalk powered that seats on the bottom does not need to move around. The kalk Leeches into the water and the power that seats on the bottom is nothing but waste. This is just a waste of money. You can test the water with kalk added and sitting for 24 hour and test a kalk Stirrer and the results will be the same.
