Even tho he’s a trained marine, I always found it strange how easily jake beat the shit outta Tsu’tey, he’s meant to be a war leader but charges in like a flailing child. After watching Avatar 2 it seems Navi wrestle and throw their enemies around, striking seems alien to them.

also consider the Navi are still a young race compared to us, and whilst they're warriors they're not psychopaths like us. we've polished our fighting abilities (from CQC to tactical nukes) due to thousands of years of war.

He was carried away by emotion and didn't really perceive Jake as a physical threat up until that point. Edit: I see many people assuming the Na'vi are mud eaters who haven't developed fighting styles and just idiotically charge at stuff. In the deleted scenes Tsu'tey challenges Jake to a duel where uses his own melee fighting technique which is completely unfaniliar to Jake. And guess what, Jake almost dies.

Maybe they knew that an avatar is a human/Navi hybrid but not that a human can pilot them, which is a concept I struggled to understand as well, how was that even possible idk

I was the same age like you when I saw avatar one year after 2009 I was 14 myself. Before I was 15 . Tsu tey used to make me nervous when ever he was around . But after getting his faces punched and Jake fighting him made me realize something. Fighting over your tribe doesn’t work .

I love the combo he uses on Tsu’tey. Na’vi are clearly experts in grappling and takedowns judging by how Neytiri gets him off of Jake when he was disconnected. He had never got a good old fashioned marine ass whoopin until then. I think it proved to Tsu’tey that he really isn’t his enemy, knowing that Jake could beat him in seconds if he really wanted to, but chooses not to

That and Na’vi are physically incapable of hand to hand combat it seems. Their hands can’t make fist and they don’t seem to have bodies made for contorting and bending for normal combat posture

I like how Jake remains focused and knows fighting Tsu'tey is not a priority when the whole clan is in imminent danger. In the deleted scenes they had a duel over Neytiri's hand and it abruptly ends when Quaricht disconnects Jake from the Avatar, the whole scene was kinda dumb.

@@a.jthomas6132 that’s correct. He was betrothed to Neytiris sister but after she was killed tsu tey knew Neytiri was the last of her kin . But after Jake sully came along he became to feel fear and anger and wanted to make Jake feel humiliated by his Jokes .
