RC Aerospatiale SA2 Samson Test flight - Avatar
This was designed, built and test flown myself.The frame was technically challenging for many to buils si I have now modelled this for 3D printing. The files will be available for purchase soon or I can supply the frames and parts printed for the builder.
See my other models available at at www.lamworks.co.uk

I agree. I did aerospace engineering and I could not agree more. That fact there are several people who have done this, its almost inevitable someone will go full scale. Its somewhere in between the V22 and a standard helicopter. There's no doubt some serious work to be done but this is super impressive.

@@gormauslander Yeah, but aerospace people have been using scale models for decades. What this answers is that it can fundamentally work. What your pointing at (and quite right) is can we scale the weight and power requirements. We know form helicopters and in particular projects like the V-22 Osprey that we can get the weights and power requirements. Other than being ducted and the rotor being fully independent its not even that new of a concept. -> en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transverse_rotors

🔴 What Is Islam? ⚠️ 🔴 Islam is not just another religion. 🔵 It is the same message preached by Moses, Jesus and Abraham. 🔴 Islam literally means ‘submission to God’ and it teaches us to have a direct relationship with God. 🔵 It reminds us that since God created us, no one should be worshipped except God alone. 🔴 It also teaches that God is nothing like a human being or like anything that we can imagine. 🌍 The concept of God is summarized in the Quran as: 📖 { “Say, He is God, the One. There is one feature on Samson thats not talked about alot , involving the pitch control of the body of the aircraft , at the very tip of the tail there is a small directed vectored thrust nozzle that used pressurized jet of air (posably presurised bleed air taken from the engines) its very tricky to get one to stability fly without factoring this control vector in.. a nomal helicopters main rotor has cyclic pitch control (its blades dynamicly change pitch as they rotate around the rotor disk) I have seen models of this aircraft with a small rotor under the tail much like a Tri rotor drone..

From an engineering point of view: 1) Tandem rotor usually is a design choice for heavy-lift helicopters, like the Chinook. Therefore, was the Avatar helicopter used as a heavy-lift or as a high maneuver fighter in the movie? 2) Side by side rotor like this one usually has a tilt rotor in order to combine the functionality of a conventional helicopter with the performance of a turboprop aircraft. Therefore, was this aircraft also a tilt rotor in the movie? 3) Is there any advantage of this side by side rotor design choice instead of the conventional one?

@stevereid7140
@stevereid7140 3 жыл бұрын
I believe you don't have front to back pitch control while in hover. Once in forward flight, the elevator will give the front to back rotor tilt a bit of pitch control. It needs a third rotor in the back that will lift or lower the tail. Currently, you are relying it to pendulum to remain upright correct? Well done sir!
@MasterMayhem78
@MasterMayhem78 3 жыл бұрын
I always thought a shifting weight mechanism could work for this. An internal weight on a slide rail that moves forward or backward to create pitch. A central reaction wheel could possibly work too.
@tapioportimo2551
@tapioportimo2551 2 жыл бұрын
I do not believe this could actually work, as tilting the rotors forward would just make the fuselage tilt back. It is hanging from the rotors, not solidly level. It needs a third rotor in the back. This is why there are no working real size models like this. Moving weights is counter intuitive, if more mass is needed just to control the machine. How about sliding seats or passengers told to move forward and aft to manoeuvre the craft? Bit clumsy. Osprey is an airplane with wings at cruise speeds.

@@johnlucas6683 Its actually very manoeuvrable but I'm a novice pilot. Will get a friend to do the flying and post an update. To achieve stability with true Bi-copter balance is key so battery placement is key.

If this is the model form based on a sifi move, then it's possible to build a real aircraft based on this. It's proven that this design works in the model form so why not try to build a real life size version for people to use.....! , Nice model .

We should have enclosed blade configuration on real Hilo’s

A helicopter is a rotary wing, it is absolutely impossible to enclose them because they don't trace a flat plane.

Rennie Allen if the blade enclosure tilted with the blades , I know how they work . If the enclosure was at least 16 3/4 inch , the air speed would increase around 28 percent thus lessening rotor drag and help decrease stalling.

@@jamesmills3176 you don't have a clue how helicopters work, the rotor does not tilt. It uses cyclic pitch.

Rennie Allen no shit . Pitch and tilt , get it ? Dam.

@@jamesmills3176 no tilt. The rotor doesn't tilt wrt the aircraft. There are plenty of videos on KZfaq where a camera is mounted on the mast looking down the wing and you can see what rotors actually do.
