Very interesting to hear historical information on the growth of Chennai city. Surprised to know that there was a large Mylapore lake of 77 acres. Also it was unfortunate that the canals which were the main arterial means of transport the in the he city were not revived and maintained. Also great to know that India's first radio station was established in Chennai nearly 100 years back

GoTN should constitute a committee headed by Mr. Sriram to identify and preserve these remnants of Old Madras and educate the next generations. So nostalgic to hear all these narrations through him. Wonder if we Chennai would still be a water scarce city if we had not drained the Mylapore lake or the lake around the Nungambakkam areas!

You deserve a great award though I don't know if the Government has recognised you with one or more appropriate awards. A Living Encyclopedia of Madras and Chennai beyond compare. We need you to live 100 more years to give more and more information on this historic and historical city. From your videos, what transpires is that we should preserve the old building, old structures, and old landmarks of Chennai, without changing their names or appearance. Even now many old UK people who are living in England now or any of their parents or uncles might have been born in Chennai/India, would like to visit this enviable city and with your knowledge and wisdom, those people desirous of visiting this city of Madras could be provided an opportunity to come and visit the place of their parents or countrymen. For this purpose at least, we should do all that is necessary, to preserve the old nature of the city side by side with the new ones, by renovating/refurbishing the old land marks and buildings and structures, without affecting their vintage nature. I am in Ashok Nagar. It was Agricultural land when my dad purchased. Here the water channel(vaaikaal) from Adyar river used for Agricultural purpose has been converted into rain water drain. That is the case in most part of the city.
