What's the difference between Botanical Repair, Damage Remedy and Nutriplenish?
These products are some of the most high performance Aveda has ever made, but choosing the right one can be challenging. Let me break it down so you can make the right choice.

Thank you! I’ve been using the repair shampoo and did find that it didn’t have enough moisture and had some hair fall. So I stopped using it. But I did like the conditioner and leave in treatment afterwards. I feel it has made a difference in strengthening my hair and keeps the style longer n no more brittle n frizz.

Thank you! Don’t worry, Damage Remedy isn’t going anywhere. 😊 Do you go to an Aveda salon? If you have a system that works there’s no need to change it, you might like the Botanical Repair treatment with your next salon color service, and you might like Nutriplenish leave-in conditioner, but again it would more for the sake of mixing it up. (You have beautiful hair btw 😊)

I am naturally curly - colored hair - dry and damaged.. so far i have tried out nutriplenish: awful for my hair... it gives volume/frizz, which I don’t need, it doesn’t help detangling and actually feel in my hair like when you go color your hair and they damage it to much... you can feel that damage even when they are just rinsing your hair after the color time finishes. All of that might be related to the porosity of my hair and the fact that i have color and highlights might have altered the porosity of my hair so it is a sponge and then doesn’t go well with a ‘hidrating’ product. On the other hand, I have tried the botanical repair line... OMG... it is like a spa for my hair, it gives shine and definition to my curls, it helps me with the detangling process and overall makes my hair to look healthy even though it is not as healthy these days... I have not tried the damage remedy line but I will... Note: the above observations were true from the first use and didn’t change my opinion after several uses... nutriplenish=no botanical repair=yes... from the start.

Hi Deron! I do have a fabulous hairdresser who worked for Aveda for many years. She is Nanci Lee Randolph and is in West Hollywood but I still love information gathering on my own... just because I love all things health and beauty! Your videos are fantastic! I love how funny and informative you are! I have been using Aveda since I was 22 years old and Horst still owned it. I love Damage Remedy and Nutriplenish. I do need the moisture but I also have fine hair but lots of it. I haven't tried the Botanical Repair yet but am thinking that it might be good for a once or twice a month treatment. I am thinking I will use the Nutriplenish leave-in conditioner afterwards and am hoping that that will be fine. I will definitely discuss with Nanci next time I see her. Just FYI, I have actually been using a small amount of the Daily Leave-In Treatment then spritzing three pumps of the Leave-In Conditioner and blending them in my hands. The cream is so heavy and thinning it out with the spray-in condition thins it out, making it so much easier to apply and it offers just that little bit of a bump up in hydration and my hair is soooo happy! I have lots of wave and no dryness whatsoever! Love it! Thanks for all the great info and great energy! Are you in Illinois?

Hi 👋 Thank you for such a wonderful, informative and genuinely helpful video 🙏. I'm keen to understand a little more about the Botanical Repair line and it would be great to hear your thoughts on the below... 1. Is the Botanical Repair (BR) in-salon- treatment Activator + Additive, a protein treatment? 2. Could you share, the maximum frequency a customer should have the BR in-salon--treatment mentioned above? 3. Is it possible to over-treat hair with the Aveda Botanical Repair in-salon-treatment? 4. To treat high porosity, bleached, heat damaged hair; does the following regimen sound reasonable? Every two weeks: A) BR strengthening shampoo B) Nutriplenish (NP) conditioner- Deep C) In salon BR treatment Daily use of BR leave-in-conditioner and nutriplenish multi oil. Many thanks!
@DeronEdward
@DeronEdward 2 жыл бұрын
Hi MJ! First, no Botanical Repair does not contain any protein in any of the products, retail or professional. You can't over treat with Botanical Repair. I'm sure every 2 weeks is perfectly fine for a professional treatment, but you might do alright with every 4 weeks as well. And if I understand correctly, yes I would start with the BR Shampoo but using a conditioner like Nutriplenish before the professional treatment would make it less effective. I would follow the treatment with your hydrating products. For you daily, the leave-in and the oil is great, just apply the leave-in first :)
@MJ-ty3mn
@MJ-ty3mn 2 жыл бұрын
Hey@@DeronEdward ! Thank you so much, you have saved me from wasting a lot of time and a lot of money! Going forward, I think I'll use my nutriplenish (NP) conditioner as a co-wash and only use it with other NP products. I'll reserve the Botanical Repair (BR) in- salon-treatment for days where I exclusively use just BR product So likely to have a regimen of 2x per month NP and 2x per month BR. Thank you so much, your advice and guidance is invaluable 🙏

What's the silicone concern for damage remedy? Thanks!!
@DeronEdward
@DeronEdward 3 жыл бұрын
Some people avoid products with silicone, I’m working on a video to explain 😊 I don’t think there are valid toxicity concerns, but some people find silicone impacts how their hair behaves, which is possible. It also depends on the specific type of silicone. You don’t need to worry about Damage Remedy 😊

Awesome video! :) I have long, straight + natural hair and so far I thought my hair is in pretty good shape. Hi, can you please advise me (50 yrs). I have blond, frizzy, curly hair. Very dry. My hair is very different (uncombable hair syndrome). I have used Damage Remedy for years, now I have used the Curly line shampoo and conditioner for the last year. Love and always need the Curl enhancer. But I feel the curly shampoo and conditioner are not enough. I want to choose between Nurtiplenish or Botanical. Or go back to Damage remedy. I get highlights about once every 8 to10 months. I wash once a week and only comb then.
@DeronEdward
@DeronEdward 2 жыл бұрын
Hello! Its a tough call without seeing and feeling your hair myself, but my best guess is to go with Nutriplenish Deep Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner, and using the Nutriplenish Daily Moisture Treatment (Aveda's best detangler) before you apply the Curl Enhancer, rather than Botanical Repair. If you are only highlighting once a year you might not be getting the full benefit from Botanical Repair, and curls tend to love Nutriplenish.

My Aveda owner had me get the nutraplenish shampoo and the botanical repair conditioner. He said this would give me moisture and repair without proteins. He said too much protein can damage hair worse...mine is pretty broken and damaged.

Too much protein can definitely make the hair brittle, I think damage remedy has a good balance of protein but sometimes we want to over do it. I’d love to hear how your new combo works out for you!

Is botanical repair similar to olaplex?
@DeronEdward
@DeronEdward 3 жыл бұрын
In principle, although my understanding is they deal with two distinct chemical bonds in the hair, and Botanical Repair repairs all three layers of the hair where Olaplex focuses on one
