Should you use sulfate or sulfate free shampoo? Which Aveda shampoos contain sulfates and which don't? I'll spill the tea and tell you everything you need to know to choose whether sulfate or sulfate free is right for you!
Leave me a comment or a question and thanks for watching!

Hi, I just found you channel! Thank you for the very informative video. I noticed today the Nutri-Plenish & Dry Remedy both have sodium 'sulfate' at the bottom of their list and Color Conserve and Shampure have Ammonium Lauryl 'Sulfate', second on their list. Do you know what the difference between both sulfates?
@DeronEdward
@DeronEdward 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Sue! Sodium sulfate is not a surfactant, so it doesn’t play much of a role in the oil balance in hair, when we describe shampoos as sulfate free this isn’t one we generally refer to.

Hi Deron, I'm new subscriber and I like your information, would you be kind enough to give me some advice to what shampoo I can use, I'm over 70 years younger, and my hair is what you call salt and pepper, is freezing and very thin and limp no volume at all, I want to try the Aveda products but I don't know which one will be the best to start with, I really appreciate if you can give me some advice, thank you very much and take care 🙂

Hi Maria! I might try the Invati Advanced Rich Shampoo and the Invati Advanced Conditioner, the shampoo isn’t drying and the conditioner will thicken your hair 😊

I love Aveda products but do decide what to buy is always a overwhelmed experience . I have highlights , brunette Color, swim at least 4 times a week in the pool and in the ocean . My hair is very dry and I am 60 years old . Should I buy the damage remedy line ❓❓

Hi There! Question, why does the invati men line not require any conditioner?
@DeronEdward
@DeronEdward 2 жыл бұрын
Invati Men is really intended for relatively short hair. The shampoo itself is sulfate free and fairly conditioning, so extra conditioner shouldn’t be necessary, you could certainly use the Invati Advanced conditioner or the mask if you want more moisture

I think another good point is that all of Aveda’s sulfates are naturally derived, which makes a huge difference to me. As always, love the content Deron! Hope you’re doing well!

You’re right Stephanie, although from my research I think sulfates are usually naturally derived anyway which is why I didn’t mention it. As always thank you for the all the love! I’m doing well, I hope you are too 😊

I'm so confused. I just checked the Invati ingredients and it does contain two kinds of sulfates, but I guess not the same kind??

I’m not sure which particular product you mean, but I do know at some point after I made this video Aveda stopped claiming that the rich shampoo was completely sulfate cleanser free. The light shampoo should still be sulfate free (which I don’t think was out yet when I made the sulfate video) Which sulfates are you referring to?

What about silicones used in styling products? I think that every aveda shampoo should clean hair from every aveda product like thickening tonic, or be curly cream which have silicones. I use be curly shampoo. Will nutriplenish shampoo remove silicone?
@DeronEdward
@DeronEdward 3 жыл бұрын
I’m still learning more about silicones myself, but yes it should. When aveda does use silicone it’s usually dimethicone which is water soluble, as long as you are properly manipulating your hair and scalp while shampooing, you should be fine 😊
@konstantinasakka2429
@konstantinasakka2429 3 жыл бұрын
@@DeronEdward on be curly is Phenyl Trimethicone, and I think Dimethicone colopyol is water soluble not Dimethicone. I have bought thickening tonic and I used it once. I didn't see any major difference and I have not tried again since then because I am afraid of silicones. That's why I am asking.

I have a natural wave in my hair, and use to have a lot more curl prior to menopause, how can I maintain my curls or get my natural curls back ?
@DeronEdward
@DeronEdward 4 жыл бұрын
Sheryl hormonal changes can definitely affect your level of curl or wave, you could use be curly style prep and scrunch in be curly hairspray to try and tighten your wave back into a curl, but unfortunately it isn’t really guaranteed to be the same curl you used to have

I have a very fine and dry hair with oily scalp. I also do workout every morning. Usually I use sulfate free shampoo but I found it doesn't clean my hair properly and I feel my scalp itchy and oily after one day. Plz suggest me two range of aveda shampoo and conditioner one with sulfate free for regular use and one with sulfate for deep cleaning as per my hair type.
@DeronEdward

I would use pure abundance or brilliant for your sulfate shampoo and scalp benefits for the sulfate free, it’s gentle but also very soothing for scalp that’s prone to itching :)

It should do a decent job, but you might also look at Aveda Sun Care Hair and Body Cleanser. It’s good for removing mineral buildup, Brilliant is going to be best for oil and product buildup 😊
