Thank you! Now I know why the sermon I have prepared for coming Sunday feels like it's missing something. It's about Hebrews 11:8-16, and I destilled these points from them: living faith is not about our own sight (not seeing the fulfillment of God's promises in our lifetime), strength (Abraham was 'near dead') or gain (the land did not belong to Abraham). I compare this attitude with the modern attitude of SMART goals, which is about making goals within our reach. I put it in de context of how churches sometimes think about mission as nice little goals/activities to accomplish instead of living in faith. It still needs more distinguishing and specificity to make it more than an average sermon!
