Good day Capt Albert hope you’re doing well and Bless, I have a Question please, I just bought the HX regular not the HXJ I put braids and follow with mono, me and my 1st mate took it out to do a cast test and I was having a lot of backlash, I had to thumb this spool to the max so I didn’t backlash, I didn’t take any tape to tape my thumbs and fingers so i also got burned even with added water into the spool before casting, do you think the MC is not working been a new reel, or you think it’s the way I spools it not putting enough pressure any comments and help will be appreciated. And love watching your channel lots of helpful info thank you 🙏 and the family for sharing!! Albert my new Avet is a Raptor HX 5/2-mc .

You should be thumbing it at all after the start of the cast.. what number are you on? what type of mono do you have? And rod length and weight class? Size weights and leaders bait are you casting? With the wind to your back or against it..? If your in C.C. come by I can help you..

The HX does cast a bit different than the HXJ. My guess is it’s the size and weight of the spool. It might require a different rod size and a heavier weight in order to compensate during the cast, but I know exactly what you are talking about, i have the same issue.

I was able to load up my Avet HXJ Raptor version with 400 yards of 80lb pro spec solidto the brim of the spool and add a 50 ft of 60lb mono, perfect for west coast yoyo for yellowtail and now sinker rig for the bluefin tuna we are having in CA waters

Depending on how you intend on fishing it. They are some that are faster on the top end and lower on the low end. So need to know more info as to how and what you plan on fishing for..

That’s actually hard to say. The three speed in high is great for reeling in a shark line quickly as long as the weight isn’t sticking, but I’m used to 2 speeds mostly. but one thing is for sure, two speed is better than one.

@@TeamHardLife i do. Dont think its really accurate. Its a hand held by busted fishing. I also have a avet Hx raptor. I got 475 yards of 80lb hollow diamond and 50 feet of 60lb blue label. This is filled full. No room for error. Fishing here in Southern California for game fish. Need line capacity on small reels.
