I've had this watch three years worn in an office environment. It stopped working so I sent it in through the warranty service. Come to find out there is only a two year warranty on these watches. The repair guys quoted me about $225 for a complete movement rebuild. Again this was worn in an office environment. If your looking for a rugged watch I would carefully decide on which brand to choose.

Great review Joe. Have you got any other Luminox recommendations? Do they do any autos?

They do autos but are at or above the thousand dollar point. I think they build a solid watch but your paying for their marketing and those tritium tubes since they’re not cheap to purchase or install. Labor intensive and have to be careful since it’s a toxic gas in those tubes.

Great review AJ. Like idea of date on caseback with Tube life. Here's my thought on it. In 20yrs it will be Vintage so don't care about tubes burning out. Also all my 70's Vintage Seikos lume are shot don't bother me. If it bothers someone that much have them replaced and worth it maybe once that old. Nice looking watch but way too much $ in my opinion. Keep up great content.💯💯💯💯💯👍👊

Awesome work with the review, like the yellow dial and yeah that's definitely not a good thing with the shelf life of tritium. Still the rest of the watch will have likely given up by then anyways. Also, really like the hat too

Regular lume will fade to almost nothing after 25 yrs too btw.Ive seen a vintage Rolex compared to a modern fake and the old Subby had very little left in the lume test .

The yellow dial is very cool works well with the overall aesthetic, the price would put me off though, everytime I think about maybe trying out a Luminox I keep thinking for this money that's 2 or 3 G shocks.......

Very nice watch. Absolutely love yellow dial divers, I actually got a Steeldive SD1975 tuna, even though I have a Seiko tuna already! This yellow is like the classic Breitling yellow and looks really good. Tritium doesn't appeal though, a good Seiko lume lasts all night and is brighter. Tritium isn't very bright even at full power unfortunately. Still, it's a striking piece. Btw, I've seen watch strap compasses for sale in small watch shops in Istanbul for about 22 Turkish lire which is about $2.50 I think. It's a bit gimmicky. I would suggest using a G-Shock GPR-B1000 which is capable of GPS navigation and accurate location and directions, plus a lot of great other useful functions. The compass on this watch is just a kids toy. I doubt very much if anyone would actually use that in the wilds!.

Very good points indeed. If it were me, I’d take a solar GShock with compass if I’m going into the wilderness. This watch is more gimmicky and just playing off the show.

My understanding is that the tritium lasts 25 years; then loses 50% of the luminescence so it's 12,5 years; then loses 50% and it's 6,25 years and so on. I believe you'll get bored of the watch or you'll die of old age before changing the tubes.

Hey buddy... always nice to see you with a LUMINOX, and you know I own two of them :)) The tritium is one debate of its own, and there's much miss-information to how long they really last... a buddy of mine has an old TRASOR watch which are the very company that make the gas tubes for LUMINOX, and his must be near to 20yrs old, and the gas tubes are dead... it states on LUMINOX website they will glow for 25yrs, while checking facts it shows what you said with the 12yrs or so... so maybe the gas tubes in the modern LUMINOX's have a slower burn rate??? only time will tell hey, but will guess your eyesight will fade before that LML :-P The yellow is very vivid and as you know the attention to detail is very Swiss nosh hey :)) Sorry not been active much these past months, been a busy Rangeman, but am now making content, but at a slower pace, more to do with not being full time on the PC and enjoying my other activities and hobbies, and of course being social LML :-P Just wanted to add some text to show that I am still watching your channel... just watched Rock the Watches new Snowflake unboxing, so now need to check on The Town Watch :)) Cheers for sharing a great video as always, and look forward to your upcoming fishing CASIO video... big thumbs as always my friend :))

@@AvgJoeWatchReviews I hope you think of me more than recently LML :-P I know how it is my friend, and trying to stress and make things all happen wasn't going to happen, so have spread my workload so I can enjoy my other things I enjoy... so have decided to not make my content so regular, not spends 29hours a day on KZfaq, and just get back into my hobbies too... have been much into helping Mrs Rangeman, as she now owns and runs her own Ice Cream Parlour in our village, so have been working long hours on that side, so no chance to make any content... so the business is booming, I have a quiet house back again, and I have some watches to share, which will all have a theme to content.. you know my style :-P You look well my friend, and your hair will soon need to be blue, as it stands like Marge Simpson's almost LML :-P The intro to your channel is lovely, nice to see it change too, and the little one looks so much older :) Don't worry about reaching out, I'm just someone who knows how times flies :-P and I'm usually always late, well late for who I'm meeting LML :-P

In this day and age, every adventure/outdoor watch should be solar. My $200 Pro-Trek destroys this thing in features and it’s solar…..but as a watch enthusiast. I want one of these.

Luminous and tritium tubes are cool and all… but couldn’t we just get a simpler method of illumination in the dark for increased longevity and decreased obsolescence? I simple led globe on a Casio does the job. Presumably more easily replaceable.

That’s been my issue as these watches are cool for 10-15 years and then the lume no longer exists or is dim. I agree.

We can always count on G-Shock fanboys to demonstrate their hatred and frustration on videos regarding Luminox. We can clearly see that Luminox watches intrigue and interest them since they are there and take the time to write. I have owned high-end watches from both brands for several years. Here is my conclusion: My Luminoxes are infinitely more beautiful. Much more precise and so much more comfortable to wear.
