An Aviation Weather Forecaster is permanently based at St Helena Airport, operating from inside the Air Traffic Control tower.
Using specialised weather monitoring equipment such as radar, sensors and wind speed instruments, along with constant visual assessments and recording of local conditions, the weather forecaster is now able to provide expert assistance to pilots and aircraft operations.
As the database of information grows, the accuracy of predictions improve.
