Early stage of getting the Automatic Tool Changer on the CNC Router Build Working. One day, I'll be building Long Lang Hives with this beauty.

Hi from Perth Mike, Thanks for the nice video demo. Found you via the new AVID forum. Super cool ATC setup. I have a 5x10 with the rotary mounted at the back end similar to yours. I'm currently in the process of installing an Optlasers 15w diode laser to my machine and have used a similar pneumatic ram unit, just a bit shorter, to raise and lower the laser unit. If I ever finish this addition, an ATC would be the next project, so I might be back for some more details at a later date.

Thanks for watching. I only signed up to the new forum this weekend, looks good so far. I had to jump through some hoops to make the Linear Type 1 work for me. Found a bug that Masso are sorting. You’re welcome to contact me about details when you do ATC. I might write up a description on the Masso forum. I’ll think about laser after I have everything else working. It’s been a couple of years building in snippets of available time.

Hi Mike, I am planing something similar like your machine. Do you have a electronics part list? Choosing the correct parts is my biggest hurdle thanks!

I started with the ATC spindle. European models were out of my budget, so I chose the best Chinese brand I could find - Jianken www.jian-ken.com/automatic-pneumatic-tool-change-spindle-motor/jgl-80-1-5kw-2-2kw-2-5kw-24000rpm-40000rpm.html through Alibaba. The Inverter is a no-name Chinese brand with specs to suit the spindle through AliExpress. The pneumatic solenoids and all the tubing and fittings also though AliExpress. I still haven't resolved the automatic dustshoe system yet. The piston in the video works in theory, but I haven't succeeded in reality. The dustshoe can't move high enough to clear the spindle. I'm working on a hinged design to swing the dustshoe out of the way instead of lifting it. I'll still use the piston(also AliExpress) to operate a rotation lever. Been too busy to dedicate the time to see it through. The moving tool tray is also AliExpress, but not entirely necessary. If I were to start again, I'd have a larger table to accomodate fixed tool holders. Masso has an elegant approach, but it did take me some time to understand it. I may make a video on how I did mine when I get it all working. Good luck with yours. Cheers, Mike

Thanks, Rodney. Not a bee video, but when I finally finish the build I’ll be producing Long Langs for sale.

I bought mine from WiXHC on AliExpress. My model BWGP has been discontinued, but I’m sure they’ll have a new model that works. It was a bit fiddle to install. Needed a 5VDC supply. Works great.

Masso is the most easiest CNC controller to setup everything. No need to be a programmer for CNC script, just put some numbers on the settings that you need then everything will work flawlessly! I retrofit my Bridgeport torq cut 22 in a week and is working just like brand new machine. Except for rigid tapping!

I totally agree. So many advantages over the systems out there that require a pc to operate.
