Tho the garden and food stuff is my favorite, this is weirdly fascinating too. As a person who can barely charge her phone, I am in awe. You make very beautiful things too.

Great videos enjoy watching you do mechanical engineering. It’s kinda scary how similar our CNC builds are. We are a bit larger and our Y is tooth belt. But the motors and controls are the same. Great idea with the cooling, properly gonna steal that. I’ve been watching all your CNC videos. Now I’m starting over watching them a second time. Really enjoyed watching you. Thanks. My first smaller machine used T10 belts and they worked good. I have had no problems with the cooling so far and it does a good job. I have seen comments about concerns about expansion but haven't had a problem. KZfaq makes the world seem small. Thanks for watching.

Congratulations for your job and thanks for sharing it. I’m also building a plasma CNC based on the Masso G3 and also bought a Chinese MPG Pendant, still to be wired. For that I have a question: did you wired the COM together with +VE on PIN1 and the -VE to the connector body?

I don’t remember now but will dig through the old sketches and see if I documented it. I think I found the wiring on the ratmotor site and didn’t save the info. Masso makes the best controller. Thanks for watching.

Now I can see just looks like a larger piece of extruded aluminum. what did you use for the side plates to hold your gantry up?

Machined them from 1 inch 6061 aluminum plate. M8 tee nuts on 2 surfaces so no holes through the extrusion.

what matrial did you use for your gantry. I am in the middle of a build and making one very simular to what you have. I was going to use 2 pieces of 1.5x3 80/20 spaced apart with the same size turned side ways in the back but what you have looks solid.

8020 80 x 160 heavy wall because of the spindle weight and mass for cooling. Thanks for watching.

I found it on Amazon amzn.to/3ekP4J0 Was going to 3d print one but a roll of pla and the brush cost more then this. The hose pulls right off for bit changes. Looks like the price has increased by $4.00 now. Thanks for watching.

Did you get the 4 axis upgrades for the Masso to run your lathe/rotary axis accessory?

Yes I did. You don't have to buy it upfront from what I understand as it is just a firmware update that can be purchased later and emailed. It can also be used to slave an axis with double limits for squaring. I am very happy with the G3. Thanks for watching.

When I started watching your channel I thought I was subscribing to a "tinkering around house and garden" sort of channel. Now I see you are also a mechanical and technology genius! Really, your knowledge is vast and amazing. What is your actual area of academic and/or other training/experience. Just curious .. out of admiration primarily.

Thanks. I was a mechanical design engineer that dropped out of the workforce about 15 years ago after being replaced by H1B Visa workers. Gave me lots of time to learn new things. Thanks for watching.

Out of curiosity, what are the resistors for on the encoder signals from the Gecko drive?

I had to add them and capacitors on the encoders because of the encoders I used. They are old recycled motors and encoders. Thanks for watching.

l am trying to find the proper length timing belt but if I cannot then I will use 2 motors and slave the second one. Thanks for watching.

@@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023 I am using the two motors now, but the effect is not very good. The accumulated error brought by switching the machine is getting larger and larger. In addition, when the stepper motor is heavily loaded, it is easy to lose steps. If one foot loses a step, it will cause a skew.So I'm really looking forward to you using either a synchronous belt drive, or two servo motors, stepper motors can be a bit of a mismatch in terms of synchronization.

I am planning on using Hf 500 spindle it has serial port output/input can it be operated by masso?

I have to get one of those ink tank printers, my cartridge printer is fixed by Epson so that it won't work when the cartridge is 2/3 empty so I have to hack the chips to get the full ink usage, and those cartridges are expensive

I like to print out manuals and that Epson ink tank printer has paid for itself in cartridge savings already. Tanks don't even move with a manual like this. It's not very fast but works great. Thanks for watching.

I wonder if you're doing all this just because you can, or do really intend to make products for sale. Seems to me you're expending a lot of $ if it's just because.

Because I wanted a new bigger router after the first one l made from scrap started to have troubles. Also you need hobbies to keep your mind busy so you don't go stale and I enjoy things like this. You can't take it with you so I am trying to spend it all now 😉. Thanks for watching.
