Lol! Daniel you were right about the micro transactions!! lol. I just bought the collection and every aro spitfire selection was priced at $50 a pop. You were 100% spot on!!! and they still skimped on the Legato for the most part. Abbey Road one is $850 for the collection. We NEED and ATTACK, RELEASE, DECAY AND SUSTAIN PATCH FOR ALL OF THEIR LIBRARIES. not having an attack is seriously garbage! they need to take notes from EastWest; at least they gave us those options.

Pretty sure Spitfire advises people to use the expression, dynamic & volume parameters to create your attack.
@CLdwyer3 жыл бұрын
Also, I’m pretty sure they crossfade the dynamic layers at a moderately close level. I think you’d need to ride volume down and up to get the effect you’re looking for. You seem to use the mod wheel exclusively for your workflow. At least in this demonstration.
@justinjonesmuso3 жыл бұрын
In regards to the release and fading out (with whole, chordal notes), I always think about how you'd be listening to it if the whole orchestra was performing it live, rather than a realistic sound by individual sections (if that makes sense). When I've been to a performance in a concert hall I can't hear the distinct collective changing of notes of the instruments because the previous note played is still reverberating within the room. In some instances, you might be able to hear it with an individual soloist with a higher dynamic but as a collective orchestra, the notes fade into the other. I find with Spitfire libraries and their programming, the release tail and the realism of the sound resonating in the room disappears when you change notes - giving the "sucking" effect - because they sample long notes individually. It's annoying they don't let the release tail ring out after the note's finished and it's just lazy to assume consumers will "fix it with release and reverb". It's like sitting in a room, having a section play a wonderful note and each time the note changes, you slip on noise-cancelling headphones and take them off when the next note starts. You miss the last few milliseconds of the previous note's room ambience meshing into the new note. It's realistic for an individual section; it's unrealistic for an orchestra in its entirety.
@chrismeyers74873 жыл бұрын
Spitfire just needs to start making Reverb packs. They market their rooms more than the library or performances themselves, but the space they're recorded in. We tend to blend libraries, so extra reverbs are generally added to everyone's tracks, so the space is pretty much useless, we need the right performances and shit like that. I'd buy Spitfire Spaces I II III IV V, over Albion XXXIX
@VillemR3 жыл бұрын
The studios specifically forbid that to preserve the uniqueness of the physical room.

It seems everyone is forgetting that this is a foundational library. It is not a complete library, and there will be additional library packs to follow to add to this library. These will cover all that everyone is complaining is missing and much more. It is basically a module library for each to dd what they want and build up their own personal library. It's a matter of choice. Sadly though I have to agree with your summoning up and I appreciate your honesty. And considering the cost of the libraries, I for one cannot afford to keep on purchasing in order to get a complete library.

Daniel, I wrote a mic merging script. It's not terribly hard, as long as you're willing to get the samples out of Kontakt (resample or resave w/o compression if you can). I use a Surface Book now (as I write 100x faster in StaffPad), but I import to S1 and load up a Sean's mix of AIR that's 100% close, minimal tree per instrument, and takes very little RAM. Full library power, on a laptop, both in StaffPad and out. Love it. Just saying it's possible.

Spitfire in SP is $100 = most techniques, tree mics, re-programmed for notation agility... all that work is unlikely to ever see a mic merged version. It's a shame as everyone is saying the SP version is better than in Kontakt. I own both and I agree. Nashville Scoring Strings wouldn't need a mic merge given the room size, if you like the library. Great close-out to the video. It's comforting, I suppose, to see people like Daniel (that is, a professional with significant career experience using this type of software) have some of the same impressions as me, a long-time performer with *highly* limited software/VI experience. I don't really feel incentivized to bother using this in a project instead of anything else I've purchased, despite a few beauties (high woodwind shorts, percussion, trem at lower dynamics).

Before finishing the first hour of the video, I was about to comment, about the issues - generally with SFA. But you, Daniel, eventually did that, as most of the times I guess. Great work mate. We want more people like you, who have a - let's say, "LOUDER" voice than the rest of us. Nevertheless, here's my comment... "So, Daniel... £299 as intro price and then £399, for one Hall Reverb is a lot isn't it...? And taking to much space in hard drive. Actually, SFA do make great recordings but they are so poor on programming the articulations, especially the legato ones. Somehow, would be nice for them to understand that, investing money on big names to upper their own branding, like BBC, Abbey Road, won't work for their clients. Of course, shopping therapy is a reality even for creative people like us and companies like SFA will survive because of marketing. But that's not the point. If somehow, I was part of that great team of Spitfire Audio and had rivals like Cinematic Studio Series, Nashville Strings by Audio Ollie and the promising VISTA from Performance Samples, I would worry... I would worry a lot!"

I don't think you're a hater. Spitfire desperately needs to stop churning out half-baked libraries, relying on the studio or artist's name like Hans Zimmer or Abbey Road, and instead focus on improving the issues that continuously plague them rather then moving onto the next library in a hurry. No other software company I can think of releases libraries as often as Spitfire and there's only so many orchestral libraries you actually need. You don't see Orchestral Tools releasing libraries anywhere near as frequently as they do, but it's always impressive when they are released because they really take their time with them. Spitfire needs to start focusing on quality versus quantity.

To be the devil's advocate for a sec - did you adjust the settings in the Abbey Road pluging? I reckon your kontakt settings are already optimized, but I know for the BBCSO you need to adjust the buffer settings and whatnot to get optimal performance. (But then again, I don't know if there are any settings in Kontakt that would make it pop and click as much for your system, so it might be a poor argument.)

Dear people, it does not matter which religious community you belong to or not, how you pray or meditate. :) The main thing is to lead a life of charity. Jesus died on the cross as an atonement for all. Fully spiritualized, He ascended to heaven. Since then our Almighty GodJeus has been spiritually with everyone and eagerly waits for recognition, exclusively in his own heart! See Matthew 7: 7 God is very much alive, He knows every heart, He knows that every person will create their trials on earth, he always holds fast to Jesus, whatever happens !! Our Almighty God is spiritually and spiritually we have to want to find him and that only happens in ourselves in the heart. He loves us very much and longingly patiently waits for every responsible person (all those in need of protection are God's children anyway) to communicate with him mentally and spiritually. Trust in God's presence, repent, repent, also pray for your loved ones ...... go into your heart !!! According to the Bible, we live at the end of the end times. Sodom and Gomorrah in the most violent measure can no longer be overlooked in our world! This time the ark is Jesus himself and if you don't ascend, you will perish ... amen
