Your video came out for me at just the right time! I've been working on something with the TV node and had grain showing up in transparent spots when I didn't want it to. This fixed it right up. Thanks Casey!

Thanks for another terrific video. I'll show this to my students when they ask why we have to learn math.

Hmmm... A couple of days ago, I ran into this issue. I solved it by applying a mask to the merge layer, and I thought it would be good to figure out why it was happening. And here, Casey uploads a video on this topic. :) Thank you!

Yes, that is a puzzling concept EVEN AFTER reading the pages in the manual about this. Though, the manual doesn’t use a filthy coffee cup as an example. I’m glad you touched on the separate nodes Alpha Divide and Alpha Multiply as they are handy for multiple node operations. Sooo … nodes that do color correction do so on ALL pixels regardless of masks because they are RGB-dependent and not Alpha-dependent? I think that is correct. I believe the checkbox for Pre-divide/Post Multiple does a fancy operation: it divides out (removes alpha) before applying the correction, adds the correction, then adds the alpha values last. Either way, the coffee cup is still filthy.

Can you make a video about why in fusion the colors in the video are so much different than in the other pages?
@stivosaurus
@stivosaurus 8 ай бұрын
I was noticing this the other day. I think it has something to do with the order in which the different pages are processed, with the Color page being done after the Fusion page. Or I could be confused. tl;dr: Video, YES!

Thank you, Casey! This is extremely helpful! I've struggled a lot with this while working in Fusion, especially in the 'Haunted' (and now in the 'Pumpkin') project. What other things can you teach us about the Alpha Channel, etc.?

Hi Casey. I am Going Crazy here , trying to render my DR fusion keyed (delta) project for a client. Quicktime DNxHR 12 bits keeps givine me weird renders (as in photo). So does Quiktime GoPro Cineform. I would really be great if you know the solution to this. I worked 2 days on this (should have done a test render in the beginning but never expected this). In DR everything looks fine but when rendered the keyed part is like half white and keeps moving.

Have u checked the matte in fusion? Is it totally b/w? Any grey noise will be partially transparent. Also make sure you select “export with alpha” on the deliver page.

You can double click any animated property to reset it. You can also delete any keyframes by clocking on the orange diamond.

Why would this not be enabled by default? It's like Black Magic want us to fail. Today I was trying to copy planar tracker transform node from one fusion clip to another (text clip above it). Nope. It just copies the node and not any of the transform data that it outputted. Really getting tired of having to sit through countless tutorials to just figure out something that should be basic

Knowing these kinda concepts differentiate hobbie compositors from industry professionals. I don't think its nerd stuff rather a bare minimum if you wanna be a compositor.
