@@lonniebeal6032 My wife's Optimal has 145000 miles on it. I believe people have unrealistic expectations out of their cars nowadays. My family's had lots of cars over most brands and getting them to a hundred thousand miles without having to get a new starter, an alternator, a transmission, or a headliner, window motor, water pump etc. Was considered a good car. So far it's been absolutely trouble free for the thirteen years we've owned it. At this rate considering everything stays working I believe I'd have to consider spending the money for a new engine to get another 140000 or more out of it. Alot cheaper than new.

All of the above cars are true junk and only imbeciles buy them. Tesla buyers are real idiots, brainless and complete imbeciles. Wait till the day comes for these idiots to trade-in or sell their junky Teslas and find out that their horrible Teslas are now worth about $20K less that they thought because of the cost of the battery replacement. All idiots who buy electric cars will be facing this horrendous huge loss due to battery replacement costs which is criminally and insanely super expensive.

Until it's maintenance/repair time then the Dodge labor and parts costs are out the window and few more sheckles extracted from the wallet is painful. Kia/Hyundia? I'm sitting on 264,000 miles on the clock and still have the original AC system and no major repairs and still don't lose any of my fluid levels between oil changes. This has been the most reliable vehicle that I've ever owned and I've owned a lot of different makes including Toyota's, Honda's and Nissan's and a few domestic cars and trucks. I've had two Kia Sorento's over the last 10 year's, a 2012 and a 2015, and I found both vehicles to be very reliable and relatively inexpensive to maintain. Other than regular maintenance items, oil changes, filters, a one time new battery, the only problem I had that required professional repair was a leaking oil pressure sensor. Come to find out the oil pressure sensor was a recall item that Kia repaired for free. Otherwise, both vehicles ran great and never broke down.

I use to have a Chrysler 200, wasn’t a bad car. Only thing that went out was the thermostat which was common on them. Otherwise it gave me good faithful service the time I had it, trades it for a tundra. Don’t regret it. As for Tesla, they are cool, and accelerating in them is fun but interior felt cheap for the money. The auto braking was atrocious at low speeds and I don’t enjoy you have to access everything from the screen. To avoid brake warping it helps to "break-in" the rotors when they're newly installed. That means braking really hard from about 60 mph then waiting about 10 minutes or so for them to cool then repeating the process again a couple of times. Do not fully stop the car with the brake pad pressing on the rotor. This is what causes warping (pressing on the very hot rotor (metal softens as it heats up)). This break-in process helps to avoid uneven rotor wear later on. But nonetheless nothing can help if the rotors haven't been properly designed/engineered in the case of this Jeep as you say.
@genekelly8467

And another big cause is tire shops that they overtighten the wheel nuts. This puts a stree on the rotors...causing them to warp when the get hot.

About the Jeep engine stalling. We once had a 2010 Patriot with the 2.4 and the CVT. It would stall in traffic, usually if stopped at a red light. Once I could feel it wanting to stall while it was in motion. Then while under warranty the CVT had to be replaced. It was one of those Jatco CVTs that a lot of people fear and despise because they are not known to be reliable. Make no mistake the CVT does not have any gears to cause a grabbing or jerking sensation and that can make it nice to drive. It was not long after that failure we traded it in for something else.

My Mother once had a 2010 Jeep Patriot with a 2.4 and CVT. It had stalling issues too. I don't know if they ever worked out the problems with those but the CVT even had some sort of failure while with less than 40,000 miles. It was repaired under warranty. We don't have it any more. We traded it for something else. We would come to a stop at a light and then it would just stop running. Or one time on the road I could feel it wanting to stall. Other than that I never was in any other vehicle that had a stalling issue. The worst thing is that although it could be restarted it was sometimes hard to do when it happened. It starts up fine when parked on parking lot or driveway but when it stalls it is difficult to restart. I am glad she was rid of that thing. I was fearing for her that it could be a potentially deadly problem depending on where it happens.

I had a Kia Sorento. Bought it used with 167k. At 210k it was struggling. I got $3,000 on trade in somehow and got a 2009 Hilander. What a huge difference!! Leather, roof, 3 rows, DVD, JBL sound, 19 inch rims, bullet proof Japanese engine, high tech, navigation, Sirius and Bluetooth radio, drives smooth as silk with 192k. Yes the Tesla needs to be on this list. Spot on about not having high enough AMPERAGE in your current circuit box. Standard is 100 Amps, and if you charge one of these Teslas on a 220V service you start losing the AMPERAGE for other large appliances in your home, washing machine, etc. Upgrading to a 200 Amp service can cost a few thousand $ USD... if you live in a apartment you don't have the ability to upgrade anything so running an extension cord out your window on 120v will take you 48 hrs to fully charge up !! Ludicrous. My regret is not on your top 5. as ive said on your channel before, My only car i didn't properly research was a 2013 BMW X5 which i bought used in 2018 w approx. 94k miles and sunk nearly $2k in repairs over 8 LONG MONTHS ! traded it in for a 2013 Lexus ES350.

In Sweden and Finland, I don't know Norway, but I think it's the same. People use 11kW chargers (3 pfase 400 V), 55kWh in five hours. Some others use 3.7 kW chargers (2 phase 240 V and 16 A fuse, which many newer houses get along with even though the heating also is electrically. In Sweden Tesla's are popular among the taxi drivers/companies, who drives 500,000 in maybe 4-6 years. Two very important things with Teslas are, a very functional media system and pre heated batteries. To be able to use the capacity of fast chargers in cold weather the battery need to be pre heated an this starts a number of minutes before you arrive to a predicted charging station. At least here in the Nordic countries electricity is, or has been and will be in the future, quite cheap, and gasoline and diesel will not be cheap in the future, and isn't cheap now. Diesel about 2 USD/litre!

Tesla recalled over 3 million vehicles in the year of 2022.
@mikelemoine4267
@mikelemoine4267 Жыл бұрын
All of the car companies are recalling a lot nowadays. It's a combination of cutting corners, buying parts from the cheapest bidder and a lot to do with software updates on the many complex gadgets they put in cars now. You used to make your car speed up by pushing the gas pedal, which had a cable on it to open the throttle and make it go. Now, your gas pedal is a potentiometer (like a volume control on a radio) that tells the computer you want to go faster, then it sends a signal to the electronic throttle body and tells it to adjust. Some cars even have brake by wire so your brake pedal tells the computer to tell the brake system to engage instead of a hydraulic piston pushing the pads to stop you. Some advantages of these, but far more complex and far more likely to fail when it gets older. Cars have up to 50+ microprocessors, hundreds of sensors and miles and miles of wiring, lots of stuff to fail!

A firework is pretty incredible for the entire 10 seconds of its life but with a car engine we want long life and in general Chrysler made engines are garbage.

Best advice is to ignore their recommended oil change interval and change it no more than every 5000 miles. Some say that disabling the auto start/stop system each time you drive can help too as it reduces the number of startups, which is when the most wear happens. You also want to avoid very long idle time such as hitting the remote starter repeatedly to warm it up on cold days. It's better to get in and go so it warms up faster. The newer oils can last 10k miles, but the problem is that a lot of gunk and carbon is floating around in it and can eventually clog up your rings and oil passages to the bearings.
