Avoid These Guys When BUYING GOLD in Dubai (Fake 👑 Scam)

Күн бұрынThe fake gold scam is famous in Dubai's Gold Souk where salesmen on the street approach you and take you into the alleyways to buy counterfeit gold. In the store, they show you real gold, but while they package it they swap it with either fake gold or a gold-plated product. When you get home you realise you've been scammed.
It's very difficult to test the purity of gold yourself. The best way to test at least if what you've been sold is of karat quality is by using a strong magnet. Karat quality gold will not be picked up by a magnet!
This test, like others, is not fool-proof! Shop at reputable stores with good reviews. If you're unsure, take your purchase to another jeweller and have them appraise it for you. Keep all your receipts, it's illegal to sell counterfeit gold. Go straight to the Dubai Police if you find you've been sold fake gold.
Hallmarks on gold items are quite useless too. They're inscriptions on the gold itself that show the purity. They can easily be faked.

Best is to shop from a store, the gold market is really well regulated in Dubai. Also something westerners in general we tend to forget is that in here you can actually negotiate and ask for the "final price". You can get easily 20% discount (maybe even more) if you know how to negotiate!

Theres actually a few tests you can do, one's an acid test, There's also a scanner that will let you know what particles are in the thing you scan. Most reputable places would have one on site as they'd use it to buy gold.

Gold test kits are inexpensive and small enough to carry with you. Also, if they are showing you real gold and doing a "switcheroo" in the back, tell them you don't need a bag take it immediately and don't let them go out of your sight with the item.

I would generally won't recommend you buying things from the Souq.. it is the most easy there to get scammed and you wont feel it .. especially when it comes for perfumes or gold. I'd recommend going for big famous stores that sell those (usually in malls) I would go for the Souq just to walk .. but not to buy ...(Never to me)

This has reduced here in Gold Souq as many jewelers like us have raised this issue with Dubai authorities. Scammers not only deteriorate the value of the Diamond jewellery but also the whole area or even the industry where they scam. So everyone please be aware of this.

I once got scammed when i was buying flowers for valentines day. It was a busy day and a guy approached me and i thought he’s legit. This video reminds me of my trip to Dubai and to the gold souk. We actually bought gold jewelry from a very kind Indian jewelry store . We only had much difficulty to find a taxi to take us back to our hotel. We were staying at the Crown plaza airport hotel and all the taxis were refusing to take us there. Some said that our hotel was too far. Thankfully, a transport inspector helped us and he told us that the taxis did not find the trip profitable-about 10 dirhams, it was in 2011- that’s why they were reluctant to do transport us. The transport inspector even threatened to fine the taxis. The authorities are very strict in Dubai but even these dishonest people find a way to do their dirty tricks.

First of all you cannot film anyone without their permission and upload it on any social media channels without their consent as it is extremely illegal. You will land yourself in trouble for doing this - this law is found within Article 378 of Federal Law no. 3 of 1987 of the Penal Code The information you provided is not 100% right, if the shops scam you with fake gold you can always approach the police which is at every corner of gold Souq or just call 999. People here in UAE are loyal and faithful with whatever businesses they do & the laws in UAE are really strict and every expat or visitor is aware of it. People love your channel, you get millions of views on your videos try to spread some positivity, most of your videos are of fake scammers, thief, beware etc. Think twice before posting any negative/false information about UAE. I wish you a pleasant stay in Dubai 😊
