Thank you for the seven tips! My hair has been shedding from the root since last August. 😢 In October my dermatologist confirmed, that I am dealing Telogen Effluvium, brought on by extreme stress, months prior. He assured me that the hair would grow back. But meanwhile, it really is the shampooing, that is so excruciatingly painful! That, and how thin my hair has gotten. Even though, there is nothing that can be done to stop the shedding, I am doing all I can to ensure, that the hair still on my head, and the new growth is healthy! Your video was so very timely for me. If you have not addressed Telogen Effluvium in a previous video, please consider doing so. There are numerous videos on the topic, but next to none by women of color.

My response to your points: 1. My breakage stemmed from over manipulation. I learned the hard way to increase the size of my hair sections as my hair grows longer so I am not over maniuplating. My hair tangles less using larger sections, the same sections I use on wash day using bigger twists. I am able to go longer on a wash because I stay detangled longer. 2.When I started using the ayurvedic ways, I found that olive oil, almond oil, avocado oil and castor oil were what my scalp likes. Anything that causes itching or bumps had to go. My hair and scalp love Amyla so I make Amyla oil using the above listed oils. I clarify my scalp once monthly with ACV/H20 50-50 mix. 3. I used cassia obuvota (non-dying Henna) when I first started natural. It changed the texture of my hair and over time I started having breakage between the new growth and the treated strands. I had to remove it from my regimen and I have been doing fine.since. 4. I minimize the use the hooded dryer only for deep conditioning. I have only a few hair styles so I am not over manipulating the hair. My hair is used to certain styles and I keep it there, minimal hair loss. 5. Took me years to figure out why my hair was breaking off and it is starting to thrive. So I keep with MY regimen. 6. I almost gave up several times but I realized that it takes times to see if your hair/scalp will "like" the regimen" you are trying. There is so much to choose from and you have to try them long enough to see how your scalp and hair "takes" to the changes. Then you have to figure out the styles that can be used, for your particular hair type, that minimizes breakage, easy to do and repeat. ***thanks for your many posts/videos. They have been a tremendous help to me on my journey.

Thank you for the tips. My hair at the crown of my head is finally starting to grow back after a year of frustration. I did see a dermatologist last year. She told me the cause of my hair loss but she also made me feel worse because she gave me no hope that my hair could or would ever grow back. You provided me with information to help me look for options to regrow my hair. You also gave me things to look into like my ferritin levels which were extremely low. Thank you very much for providing women like me with information to help us regain our confidence in trying to regrow our hair.

Thank you for these tips. These tips will really help people that have hair loss. I am one of those people that put to much oils on my scalp trying to grow hair on two bald spots. The oils did nothing, but clog my hair follicles. I was diagnosed with Frontal Fibrosing Alopecia which is a form of alopecia that comes from inflammation on the scalp. It is an inflammation alopecia, so the oils were causing more inflammation. You are right the best thing you can do for hair loss or excessive shedding is to go to a dermatologist. I have learned the hard way 😪. I started losing my hair in 2015. I am surprised I still have hair on my head. I'm also bless to have hair on my head. The first time my sister saw my bald spots she cried, because I had a lot of hair. I told her I had bald spots, but she didn't know how bad or how large the bald spots were. My sister is a pastor, so she was praying and crying when I took off my head scarf. 😭

Hi Ms Lois! I am quite familiar with FFA and how devastating it can be particularly because its so aggressive and degenerates that follicles so quickly. I'm so sorry you've had to experience this. And you are absolutely right -- oils are not the answer. Seeking professional help is always advised! I too will keep you in my prayers. And thank you for your continued support! 💜

Hello. I am wearing sister locks with a thinning crown. I went to a black dermatologist who recommended I begin using mens Rogaine 5% to battle my androgenic alopecia. I’ve added an oil to that regimen because the Rogaine seems to dry out my locks in the crown area. I’ve been locked about 5 years now and my crown is still thin. I am leaning toward a different touch up method to save my follicles, but I’m wondering your thoughts on using a chemical like Rogaine. I’m not sure it’s really helping. I massage my scalp daily hoping that will help as well.

@@KarenofCurlHouseThe reply is greatly appreciated. Would you happen to know whether the growth drops can be used with color treated hair? With Hairmax, I didn't see much change with the hair booster, and when I started using the serum, unfortunately it caused more breakage. So I'd like to know if this is also going to be an issue with the hair restoration products.

@@KarenofCurlHouse Thank you! If you could please recommend another shampoo and conditioner until yours is back in stock, and also recommend some hair vitamins, that would be very helpful. BTW...The Hairmax shampoo and conditioner worked "okay". However I stopped using all of their hair care products almost a year ago after the serum caused more breakage. Their vitamins helped my nails but I didn't notice any difference with my hair. I use the laser band 3 times per week, and hopefully I'll start seeing some results after praying faithfully and purchasing new products based on your recommendations.

Hi Ms. Betty! Here's a video to help you achieve this style. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fcCPedJyvbureqM.html Also, gray hair is superdry and tricky, and definitely prono to breakage. I am going to do another video on caring for gray hair, although I have several on my page. The side sleep on is typically thinner....mine certainly is! The breakage may be in part due to improper moisture balance. Here's another video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/o7pkrdWCuJ6miYE.html
