Avoid these upwork jobs at all costs (and some advice)

Maybe this makes me a "guru" but I just can't give away everything I know for free, I'm sorry. I want to help people, but trying to help everybody requires a lot more time, effort, and energy than I initially thought. And doing everything for free just took time away from me running my own agency and I wasn't really able to help people because I was just giving 1 sentence answers to very complex and complicated questions.
So, I created The Mogul thinking that it would be better to FULLY help 1 person, than to partially help 100 people. Everything, all in one place to help someone succeed to the best of my ability while getting paid for my work. I'm pretty confident I can bring anyone success as long as they are willing to put in the effort on their end. One thing I experienced, If client send only one Invite to one specific freelancer then we should avoid the job because most probably the client has made up their mind to hire that freelancer.

The other thing that is helpful to do is please REPORT the scammers that you come across to Upwork. If you applied for a job that turned out to be a scam and you report them you will get your connects refunded to you. Certain countries are usually red flags for example India, Pakistan, Bangladesh. Personally, I think Upwork needs to have a better client screening process or at least make it cost prohibitive for them to be on the site.

Took a job for $80 for some SEO advice, at most editing some copy on the website. Had an hour call, gave a ton of advice. He said he would pay me for my work so far and was interested in having me redesign the website according to some advice on branding I provided. Made him a site over the next two weeks, then hes complaining about lack of progress and it turns out he wants to pay me $80 for the entire project. His rebuttal was that he paid $250 for his current site, which he needed redesigned! Such a headache and a lesson learned

i think you should focus on building skills and also making money little to fund the upwork account to bid. Upwork is no longer the place to grow with zero budget or client referrals.

zero review projects are mostly scammers. But the one that have attached a pdf, and shows details about the project are likely worth it.

@@ThomasIm they are constantly changing rules. It makes it hard to keep and develop your business there. I have worked on Elance and Upwork for more than 15 years so I know what I am talking about. The better way is to find clients using other channels.
