Hi Top Flight Family- I'm so glad to hear that you had an overall great experience with ANA's The Room. I'm biased to ANA mainly bc I usually fly it for work trips from Japan to other parts of Asia. When I travel home to the US, I usually fly United to Newark since my family lives in the Northern suburbs of NY but experiencing The Room would be worth the extra travel from JFK. I think I like the old version of business class for the comfortable seat vs the new "The Room". Also with all the travelers it kind of feels the service is getting stretched now that many people are flying business class, probably with their virgin points as well as a crowded lounge. Nice video

Great videos. Your family are pro travelers and look like a really tight knit group. 🙂 I'm really excited to try The Room. I believe it is sometimes offered on the LAX Tokyo routes (both NRT and HND) but not always. Also important to know is that the two LAX HND flights currently operating are both red-eye. This is super convenient for us as our family in Japan lives in Kyushu so we normally change planes same day at HND, but it does mean that the service is business is scaled back as most passengers sleep most of the way. This is also why I believe we get the older hard product most often on this particular route. Not a problem at all since we are sleeping but something to be aware of when booking. Was also a bit surprised to see there wasn't a larger Star Alliance lounge at JFK. Perhaps it's in another terminal. At the end of the day I really only need a few specific things out of a lounge and nearly all of them provide that (e.g. a place to sit, electrical plug, warm food, and a clean bathroom) but it was interesting to see ANA operating it's own smaller lounge there.

Very informative video, I'm actually flying on ANA Buisness Class in 2 weeks, I was thinking of swapping to a SQ flight, but I realised this was an experience to endure.

True comments at the end of how ana lost some points in the luxury feel. This is why I would still put qsuite over the room, but still both are great products! Great review and thanks for the tips!

It's true that dessert options on Japanese airlines are limited but maybe that's owed to their eating culture that doesn't come with fancy desserts at all, it's usually a bowl of fruits even in the best restaurants. But in case of ANA, the Business Class snack menu makes totally up for it in my opinion.

Re: Broccoli Rabe- I know some cooking competition shows have done an Airline Food challenge where they've talked about why certain types of produce is used etc. It's a mix of how taste buds can change with altitude, which foods are easier to digest and storage/cooking. Broccoli Rabe and Broccolini hold up slightly better than broccoli florets and are kind of easier to heat in the plane ovens so they'll come out looking a bit more appetizing than regular old Broccoli. But I understand! It's also frustrating because it only takes like one additional step to make broccoli rabe/broccolini less bitter (like blanching it in stock or white wine first) but that almost never happens with mass-produced meals. Im going to book this flight. however when you mentioned about the sitting side by side with your companion on the E&F seats, are those all rear facing seats? im wanting seats for 3 all facing forward but also shoulder to shoulder in the middle for my daughter and i to have conversations. My son can have the window but we all need to face forward. Any tips for whcih row and seat number for 3 of us? Thanks!

Morning TopFlight. Long time. Wow. Never even heard of this airline. Wow. Look at the size of the seats. 24 “tv. I don’t think I would change into pajamas anyway. 😂. Broccoli 🥦 rabe is awful. Agreed. The bitterness 🤦‍♀️. Ooh. The cheese plate please. So the bathroom is nice and clean but not that much bigger. Turndown service. Doors close. Anytime service. Cool 😎. Wow. This is business not even first class. Moist towel VS a moist wipe or less quality headphones /cheap cocktail napkins or menu quality was the $2680 price VS $6 - $10k 😂. JAL will be also introducing their clone of ANA The Room on their A350's soon. For Pajama's you have to ask the FA if they have any available because I have my cardigan from ANA during my business class on the 787 flight HNL to HND. I think the ramen they are using is from ippudo tonkotsu on the plane. The napkins are also made from recycled green tea leave waste to be biodegradable as they are part of the pledge to reduce their carbon footprint so that is why they also did a new 777 or 787 livery which is ANA GREEN to promote their minimizing of carbon footprint on the SFO route. Agree the headphones suck on ANA business class, I think JAL uses the Sony or Bose ones which are better.

Promised my son a trip to Japan. Dreamed of going since I was a kid too. I'm very concerned about leg room. I'm 6'1 he'll be over 6'3 when we go in 2 years. Is there anything that would work for 2 tall people flying that far? I can't have my legs curled up all night. Did that on a trip from Tacoma WA to Pismo Beach CA. On Amtrak. Had to have quite a few massages to get comfortable again.Tall people problems.😂

I’m about to take this flight as well from New York to Tokyo. I’m very disappointed that you can’t get a front facing seat that’s directly next to the window. I’m disappointed it isn’t an A350.

I don't get why SEA > HND is 7k - 10k. Their Delta One "Suites" seat is barely wider than economy seats, bathroom is identical to economy, and food is meh. Super dry and over done filet mignon anyone? But I keep paying for it because economy is so much worse. I hope we get "The Room" some day.
