Travelled to many destinations around the world and for me Morocco had the most aggressive beggars I have witnessed, never again! Tunisia in comparison was lovely. 🤷‍♂️

When I was in Egypt we were just chased by guys who’d just stick tacky wooden pyramids in your hand and put head scarves on you, then instantly claim you touched it so you buy it. It actually ruined my trip to the pyramids, continually arguing with them while walking around.

Hello all! Currently in Marikesh, one thing to remember if someone says “closed this way” please do not comply with their request for you to follow them. If a way is truly shut there will be a gate which is locked or some form of security personal. The friendly local just wants money for slightly misleading you for 5 minutes of your time. To streamline moving through a sea of harassment wear a pair of bluetooth ear buds. If someone is really aggressive simply removed one, acknowledge them, say no, then put the earbud back in and walk away. They're more inclined to find someone else when they can physically see that you've blocked them out.

It's not even the amount of money, I don't care about losing a few tens of euros, it's the disrespect that is more damaging.

Hello, thank you for making ppl aware of the scams. The same happened to me. A women just grabbed my hand, asked where I was from and quickly painted an ornament - took her about 1 minute and wanted 600 dirhams ( 60€). She was following me around the square for a while and waiting for me in front of a shop so I ended up giving her €2 and had to push her away as she demanded more....she was wearing a scarf covering her face as well...this video will be useful for many

Hey Ben. It happened the same to me in Marrakech, I was completely traumatized. They got about 30€ from me. It is a shame that they let this people roam free ruining the reputation of the city. Good to see you were alright.

As someone who spent time travelling in Morocco, indeed you are seen as a walking $ sign and need to stay vigilant every second. This just turns you into an awful person who is rude to everyone by default because you are scared that if someone speaks to you they will eventually want money. This said, the scams shown on this video are super obvious and don't forget that in no way you are obligated to give money to these people after the scam - you can always walk away and nothing will happen. I think the scammers are awful but also EU and US tourists are too naive which is a combination for disaster.

I hate scammers. I Just left Marrakech 2 days ago and I had my fair share of scam attempts too. I uploaded my youtube video 3 days ago and I warned visitors not to accept any unsolicited offer from anyone especially in touristic areas.

If anybody says something to you, you should demand money for you to hear them. "You talking to me, I want money!" Double scam their ass back.

whenever im in these types of places i just ignore locals talking to me and cary on walking, 9 times out of 10 they are after money, easier to just walk by

Been to Morocco a bunch of times and it's terrible for scammers but the further South you go and get out of big cities it's much better. Beautiful country and some lovely people too

The square in Marrakesh was just awful for scammers. Go through it and get to the old market on the other side, and the gardens and the madrasa. All the historical stuff there is amazing and free of scammers.

Be careful with henna tattoos sometimes they use dodgy dye. My friend developed an allergy after having one done like Kat. Now she can’t use hair dye

I have just been to Marrakesh, honestly it really was not that bad / easy to be scammed. You really have to just have to be persistent in saying no / no thanks to anything you don't remotely want or need. But I guess everyone's experiences are different.

I have visited twice Morocco and I agree with you, If you want a quiet holiday Morocco is not your place. People think you are rich and a fool. Worst place in the world for Scams and for instance, Fes is much much worse than Marrakech.

I think the "friendly stranger" scam exists in all countries. Happened to me in South Korea.

I have travelled to so many countries but for me Morocco was the worst in terms of beggars and lairs.

I used to go there often but those scammers let Morocco down unfortunately.

I was expecting the Marrakech Express rail to Casablanca, as per Crosby, Stills and Nash song. And Ricks Cafe in Casablanca Medina. Maybe it’s in another video. Anyway, I highly recommend these as part of a visit to Maroc.

In the 80s I went to the Eiffel tower, but never got to go up the tower. A photographer took my picture, without asking, and demanded money for it. I refused, and during the argument, I missed my group tour. I would miss the tour again, just for the principal of it.

All over the world thier many scammer but we must careful with them we should avoid from them....

Some kids even slightly change the Google maps location of certain tourist attractions in Marrakech, so you end up lost in little alleys. Then kindly lead you out and demand money. Apart from these scams Marrakech is a lovely city with amazing food. Just need to know how to avoid these scams. Once I was even given a fake 10 euro note which I thankfully noticed.

Would anyone know if Morocco has Uber taxis or any other companies that could be tracked etc? Im going to be travelling to Marrakech next week so wanted to be sure of any good taxi services, rather than getting the normal cabs

I was there years ago and my then girlfriend hated leaving the hotel by then end of the holiday, they would constantly ask us for bon bon "thought we could speak french since its their second language" Even tried to pull our shoes off us one day, lovely place if the locals weren't so fucking annoying, everyone was trying to sell me ounces or hash too, guess I just have that look lol

I was born in this city, and if you meet real people, they will make you better. These are hotel brokers and a police force that fights them hard.

it is very easy to avoid scammers anywhere in the world and specifically in Marrakech by just saying " Thanks I do not need your HELP so F***OFF" I have been to Marakesh so many times and never have been scammed. also negotiate everything by taking 80% of the asking price and meeting in the middle. As for the food, take a pic of the menu before ordering. that's all... Happy trip..

I went there about 10 years ago. Great places to visit and I met some wonderful people. But you have to keep your wits about you. I was never scammed with snake charmers or henna tattooists, but I did get people pestering me all the time and some were rude if you said no politely. In order not to get lost in the souk, we took a picture of every corner we turned so as to find our way back to our riad.

Been a number of years since I visited but I would recommend anyone visiting to buy some local clothing - it will lower the amount of people hassling for cash....
