Most expats are fine, but I don't live anywhere near them and I don't have a desire to. I like my quiet drama free life in the village. Might be fun to hang out or chat from time to time, but I enjoy my solitude.

Like your perspective regarding x-pats in Dramaguete, (I take credit for giving it that nickname). We have a house in the province an hour outside the city and apartment in Manila. We live in Hong Kong but go back and forth a couple times a year and when we go to Duma I give up coffee and only go to shop, movie or jog. Like your stuff and keep it coming Bud.

I don't know about avoiding them, but I certainly wouldn't bother to go out of my way to meet them either, I go to the Philippines for the Philippine experience, that is the people, the scenery, and the attractions, if I wanted to hang around Westerners I'd just stay home

When I visit the Philippines, I don’t interact with many Foreigners because there aren’t many in my Fiancé’s town. I only saw, met and spoke with one expat, so far. It’s not really a “go to” destination for expats. I don’t mind interacting with Filipinos all the time. I probably would have some English or German speaking foreign friends if I were to visit a more populated tourist destination town.

It would be nice to see the veterans get mental health care without discrimination. Even in the states though too many veterans fall through the cracks like right now it is 600,000 veterans without VA care. That along with 50,000 homeless veterans. We have issues.

With all respect but I lived in Thailand for 16 yrs ....about 10-20% ex-pats were decent great guys. The rest we all avoided cuase they seemed hell bent on causing chaos or conflict or they were Cheap Charlies. Seems like Dumaguette has gotten that way. Back bitters. I live in Asia cause I enjoy Asians, their food, life style, culture & respect. Why hang around the very people we avoid in the west?

Most expats in the PH - would be considered "odd people" back in the home country. Only fringe people would be willing to come to a strange country to retire. When a bunch of "weirdo's" congregate - drama.

Some rich expat should, 1) Build a real, big, GYM, like with a pool, raquetball, etc, etc.. and, 2) a old gringo retirement home complex.
