Another rare glimpse of filming ADI's effects work on AVP--this time focusing on the sliced-in-half alien head action "Scar" the Predator delivers. The sequence required Tom Woodruff, Jr. (alien) to be suspended and inverted above Ian Whyte (Scar) for a "stalking" shot, then stunt perfomer Rene Hajek stepped in for Tom when the subsequent action required the alien to fall to the floor. A simple enough Texas-switch with very few hang-ups...

I do not understand why so many Alien fans hate the AVP. I love it! These 2 amazing monsters look great in this fight and the story also makes sense!

It's a pretty bad movie, but I gotta admit, the design of the Xeno was peak in that movie. Looked amazing, true to the 1979 version.

@@Alienkiwi730 agree to disagree on the "bad movie" part :D I would still watch it for fun. The last 2 Alien movies were a disappointment.. it ruined the whole franchise. I hope they can save it somehow with the next movie. But I see no way to undo the harm that is done... Although as separate movies they have some value, if someone would watch them without knowing anything about the other movies. I think. But... too bad they made them.

For me its not only the fact that its just a re painted copy of the xenomorph from alien resurrection, or that it literally turned anything xeno into purely action with no real horror stuff. But also that it set the alien and avp saga to forever have only one variant of xenomorph per movie. There is no rigid headed ones and smooth headed ones in the same movie together. But yet avpr has rigid headed ones and it only takes place 1 day after the first avp movie. Fuckin dumbass director's

in my world cgi is meant for planes and planets, and stuff that are waay too big to build, but making it real and prosthetic is the way to go hense why these movies are great. alot of peeps forget but in star wars the entire scene with Darth mall fighting was ALLL REAL the entire set was hand made!

So cool :) I loved AVP :) bummer the newer video game couldn't have dedicated server browsers from the start, and a bit more polished netcode...really was a pretty decent foundation for a game. Especially bummed that the alien game after that was sorta a mess. Hopefully the next one horror like game coming is good. Also the miniature game on Kickstarter...hope that turns out successful.

KlingonCaptain And what about the first film? The Alien had four fingers like the rest of us but in addition had two opposable thumbs on each hand, making for a total of six digits on each hand. It was the additional thumb on the other side of each hand that piqued my curiosity and wonder, leading me to think, just what could and would we do with four thumbs instead of two?

JackoKlaus I know this is a old comment and you more than likely forgot about it, but as a reply regardless, no they didn’t, you see the green inside? That’s very much corrosive, and the reason why it’s not just spraying out of its head is because that’s how the human physiology works, as most animals here in earth, if your head was filled with blood like many areas of the rest of the body you would be very dead, the brain need oxygen and these xenomorphs are all offspring of human hosts, these xenos take physical features and mannerisms from which ever host they are born from. there are sub categories of them as well, in their hive’s there is the queen of course, similar to insects, there are drones, warriors, and general workers. for example is the original movie of 1979 Alien it was a single drone, in the second Aliens it was mostly warriors etc.
