This very long video is an overview of how to complete project two from AVT 206. In this video, we will form a section of spar and flange the holes. Then we will simulate a crack and repair the damage IAW the Cessna Structural Repair Manual. Please watch it before you begin project 2. Use the shorter P2 clips while in lab.

I have an old pair of yellow snips. Is that different or did the manufacturer just use a different system to indicate left and right hand

I don't know. Just see what they can comfortably cut. All pairs can cut straight.

I got them from a coworker and haven't used them much and so never noticed they had a handedness to them. Is there somewhere I can get a copy of that project outline?

as per the cessna repair you should have used minimum edge distance and 3d rivet pitch

This is a bit tough, as we are applying a Cessna Manual to a non-Cessna part. However, my manual notes that for a spar that is a single channel, both the typical and minimum edge distance for this repair is 1/4 inch (Wing Spar Repair Sheet 2 of 3). With #4 rivets, that is 2D. Some of the statements in the manual apply to specific situations, and some are actually in conflict with each other, so you have to interpret which requirement is more important...

why you are not using a Hole Saw Cutter...

The fly cutter can be adjusted to every size you need. If the fly cutter is used properly, it makes a very smooth edge. The hole saw cutter leaves a very rough edge compared to the fly cutter. However, the hole saw cutter is less likely to cut off your fingers.

you got the snips wrong. Green is right, Red is left

You are correct. For dyslexic people like myself, left and right is tough. The good news is that you will be able to tell which is which when you go to make the cut.
