Richard Schiff wins the 2000 Emmy Award for Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his performance as Toby Ziegler on The West Wing.

when John wins his - in 2002, I think - the reaction by the rest of the cast is just as exuberant, particularly Brad Whitford (who told John he would win one the previous year)

Came here from the West Wing Weekly podcast which had Richard Schiff as a guest on it. I love how enthusiastic John Spencer was when Richard one. Spencer just seemed like an all around stand up dude. Schiff said he got into a trouble later because he forgot to thank his family.

The first episode of The West Wing I saw was In Excelsis Deo, where Richard Schiff was featured, and for which he won this Emmy. This was in 2014--I never watched the series when it aired. His performance was masterful, and the writing was, too.

He, Bradley Whitford and John Spencer all won their Emmys partly for Christmas episodes: respectively "In Excelsis Deo," "Noel" and "Bartlet for America."

Richard is equally great in THE GOOD DOCTOR. Episode "Tough Titmouse" from Season 2 contains finest work Richard has ever done - scenes with Holly Taylor will break your heart,

+jwelch5742 And 2. Facing off with Bartlet in the MS arc was amazing. Also 4 with Sam leaving and him getting writer's block...and 7 being cooped up like a caged animal watching the election from a distance. And also all the rest :)

Richard Schiff is a great actor in the West Wing. Odin and Toby Ziegler have a very striking resemblance that goes beyond just being the same actor.
